When I began the write the May 2022 horoscope I realised that some months are more eventful than others – and this is one of them. This month’s horoscope begins the morning after the solar eclipse in Taurus and will be influenced not only by the lunar eclipse in Scorpio mid month, we also have a Mercury retrograde to contend with, as well as Jupiter’s ingress into Aries. So, we have things coming to light, things that need a second look and a shift in perspective. I think May will be an interesting month in more ways than one.
I’ll be posting on all three of those celestial events soon, but in the meantime there’s also the small matter of Mars making contact with Neptune in Pisces and Jupiter in Aries at the end of the month to think about too. Looks like the new Moon in Gemini can’t come soon enough. Before we get to that stage, we’re going to have to work our way through a lot of stuff that seems to be coming to a head this month – one way or another. Is this a ‘watershed’ moment in 2022?
The May 2022 horoscope is going to be one to watch for sure – but how are the heavens going to affect you? As usual, you can read your horoscope for either your sun sign or rising sign – or both.
May 2022 Horoscope: Aries
The solar eclipse hit your house of values, so as this month begins you may have money on your mind. One issue you may have is that you may have been taking your eye off the ball recently – and with Mars approaching Neptune, something you didn’t see coming may give you a sharp reminder of that fact. You may be tempted to ignore reality, but mid-month sees a whole bunch of reasons why you need to sit up and take notice – especially as Jupiter entering your sign may make you feel invincible. You’re not. You’re only human. Remember that.
Information you receive around this time will also cause you to thing twice. Mercury is moving backwards into your house of values and you are going to have to re-think your priorities – as well as your spending habits. Jupiter may, however, be on your side. If you pay attention to what’s been going on and deal with it, you could find things work out in your favour. However, the lunar eclipse in Scorpio will remind you that you don’t get anything for free. Change is coming and it’s better to be in control of events than at the mercy of them.
May 2022 Horoscope: Taurus
Last month’s solar eclipse was powerful for you as it affected you self-image. Something may have changed in the way you see yourself and that may have affected your self-esteem. The Mercury retrograde period is going to give you the space to process that and think about how you can best present yourself going forward. Sometimes we need to have a good, honest conversation with our inner self – now is that moment. Jupiter will also be helpful as it moves into the area that influences the subconscious. You will have every reason to feel better about yourself – if you don’t already that is.
One area that may be sensitive this month concerns your relationship, or your partner. The lunar eclipse in Scorpio signals the potential for a dramatic and possibly unforeseen event. Before you start to worry and book that course in crisis management, you need to remember that good things can be life changing too. Events now may not change your life in the outward sense, but you may discover that your bond deepens and your sense of togetherness becomes stronger as you deal with whatever life brings you. Presenting a united front may be important at this time.
May 2022 Horoscope: Gemini
It may seem like the year end to you Gemini, as you wait for the Sun to enter your sign later this month. The solar eclipse may have give you a sleepless night or two and you may have had to admit to yourself that a few things have been causing you concern of late. Waking up to that realisation is likely to be a good thing; Mercury retrograde in your sign is going to enable you to look again at the things that have been getting under your skin. A period of reflection is perhaps what you need to make the most of the new moon in your sign at. the end of the month.
Before you get to that new beginning, you’re going to have to work through some issues and get your life into shape. One problem you may have is that you’ve been letting problems mount up rather than deal with them. That may affect your career or personal authority – but the main message is one of taking responsibility. You may need to move up a gear before someone takes you to task. Jupiter may – or may not – help as your social diary may be overloaded. Use your networking skills to seek out new opportunities to move your life forwards.
May 2022 Horoscope: Cancer
Last month’s solar eclipse affected your social life and networks. Some of you may have realised exactly how much the party lifestyle is costing you in cold, hard cash. Some of you may have asked yourself, is it worth it? If you have been having a few concerns at the back of your mind about social issues, some of your friends, or matters within your community, Mercury retrograde is giving you the chance to look again at how you can become involved in things that you feel are worthwhile or are in keeping with your ideals. And this month you may feel a push towards greater involvement.
Jupiter is going to make you want to be seen. There’w a restless energy about you as the month progresses; you want to be seen as the person in charge and you may even think about expanding your business or career interests in some way. At the very least, you’ll be feeling positive about your place in the world and your optimism will be a notable feature this month. However, mid-month, the lunar eclipse may find you looking to change yourself through creativity. I’m not suggesting you’re about to become a great artist; it’s more likely that your own leisure and pleasure time will bring about a deep personal transformation.
May 2022 Horoscope: Leo
The solar eclipse at the end of last month raised questions about your career and personal authority – and they are questions that are likely to be revisited when Mercury turns retrograde this month. If you want to work towards an ideal, then you need to work out how you’re going to get there. There is often more than one answer to a question and, this month, you may have to revisit your ambitions test their validity. Jupiter is going to make you want to expand your life – and to do so you need to formulate a clear objective. Getting a renewed sense of perspective may be what you need.
The lunar eclipse turns your attention to home and family matters. A lunar eclipse is a great time to let go of the things you no longer need so a de-clutter (symbolically or otherwise) would be useful now. It’s a great way of making space in our lives for new things to happen – and as you’re likely to be in an expansive place this month, you’re going to need some extra storage space. By the time of the new moon in Gemini at the end of the month, you’ll be ready for the fresh start that encompasses your ideals – and you will have a much better idea of how those ideals fit with your direction in life.

The solar eclipse at the end of last month may have affected your expansion plans. If you were hoping to study or travel, or expand your life in some way – you may have been reminded that achieving meaningful change isn’t always easy. When it comes to your carer and ambitions, you may have to revisit your understanding of a certain situation to begin to appreciate why things maybe haven’t been going your way. Gaining a deeper understanding is always useful and looking again at your own motivation may provide you with some of the answers you’ve been looking for.
The lunar eclipse mid-month may enable you to rid yourself of any preconceptions and attitudes that have been getting in the way. It’s essential you let go of any negative thoughts and be honest with yourself about how you could look at things from a different perspective. Jupiter is pushing you to change – and by the end of the month, big changes may happen fast; the fresh start you’ve been waiting for may be closer than you think and the new moon in Gemini at the end of the month may bring you the career news you’ve been waiting to hear.

Last month’s ending with the solar eclipse may not have seen you plunged into crisis, but it may have signalled a real moment of change for you. If you’ve been needing life to turn a corner, or you were thinking about how you could make progress with a certain matter, this month may give you the opportunity to get your head around the problem in question. It may not be a ‘problem’ in the negative sense, but it is something that you may have tried to avoid thinking about for some time. Jupiter points to it being a partnership matter – or it may be that two heads are better than one.
Whatever the issue may be, the lunar eclipse at around the same time, suggests you need to work out exactly what you value. Sometimes, we cling onto things for all kinds of reasons – even though some of the things we carry with us eventually drag us down. This lunar eclipse is asking you to make the right value judgements and not be sucked into situations that damage your self-esteem. If that involves walking away – then so be it. By the end of the month, the new Moon in Gemini will show you that your world could be bigger and more exciting than you ever imagined. Take the opportunities that come your way.

Capricorn is fuelled by ambition. You also like a good time – on your terms – and the solar eclipse last month may have made you realise that those good times aren’t as good as you would like them to be. Your mind seems to have been preoccupied by work and the pressures of everyday life. Stop. Mercury retrograde is going to give you the opportunity to think creatively about how you can enjoy life more than you have of late – though at first it may be something you find hard to get your head around at all. Ask yourself, “what makes me truly happy?” You inner child will know the answer.
The lunar eclipse in Scorpio will focus your attention on your social life. You like to know what is going on in the world and you are the sort of person who likes to be involved. There is a risk, that those involvements are diverting your attention. Let go of a few of the things that you use to deflect from the things that you really need to pay attention to. A little less time on social media and more time spent dealing with things closer to home would be time well spent. Jupiter is going to keep you busy on the home front – if you’re thinking of relocating? Now may be the time to act.
May 2022 Horoscope: Aquarius
Last month’s solar eclipse was felt on the home front and whether the issue was an attachment to the past or an attachment to the contents of your closet, mercury retrograde this month is going to make you confront the issues until you’ve resolved them. The main issue is to let go of something and move life forwards and only you will know what that is as the solar eclipse affected a deeply private and personal part of your life. Fortunately, Jupiter is giving you a positive and optimistic mind-set this month, so coming up with solutions shouldn’t be too hard.
It’s likely that you career will also come under scrutiny this month. Again, you may feel under pressure to change. Whether that is an internal pressure, or whether you are responding to some outer pressure will be down to your individual circumstances. Letting go is often a relief, so if you need to jettison anything that has been holding you back, or if something has ben keeping you in a position that you’re uncomfortable with, then let it go. The new moon in Gemini will affirm that you are right to choose a course of action that allows you to be yourself. You are more effective that way – and you’ll be much happier too.
May 2022 Horoscope: Pisces
When the solar eclipse happened at the end of April, it really got inside your head. f you were at all confused by conflicting ideas or strange notions, you will have been challenged to clear your head and make space for something more constructive to take their place. Now, for a Pisces, that sounds quite a challenge. Dreaminess and weird ideas are your stock in trade, however Mercury retrograde wants you to reconsider some of the things you’ve been thinking about as well as how you’ve been communicating those ideas to other people. Mentally you need to be on much more solid ground, so it’s essential that you do this work.
You can be visionary and this month, the lunar eclipse in Scorpio is going to work powerfully in the way it deepens your understanding and compassion for the world around you. You’re beginning to appreciate the extent to which you’re connected to the world of faith – but you do ned to work out which of your idols are false gods; you may not be religious in the traditional sense but it’s often easy for you to accept doctrine or dogma without question. Now is the time to ask questions. As the month ends, you will value the the mental stability and security you get from knowing your own mind.
