This year finds the New Moon in Gemini in a sign that’s becoming a crowded space, with no fewer than five heavenly bodies vying for attention. With such an emphasis on the sign most associated with information, being busy, short journeys and movement of all kinds, it suggests that, this month, we’re all going to have to be flexible – and there will be no excuse for not being well informed. It may feel as if a lot of things are ‘up in the air’ and things could ‘go either way’, as situations seem to change rapidly. New informations appears as if from nowhere.

This changeability is not going to be entirely down to the New Moon in Gemini – it’s been promised by the heavens for quite some time – so we can’t say we weren’t warned. But a New Moon is always a seeding time – it’s where things start – and the way things begin with the New Moon in Gemini is in the realm of information and communication. The things we think, hear and say are especially relevant around this time. As the old saying goes, ‘There’s something in the air’, so tune into that and keep yourself in the loop. There will be no excuse not to know what’s going on

New Moon in Gemini: The Basics

The New Moon in Gemini begins a new lunar cycle on 6th June 2024 at 12:37(UT) and it will be found at Gemini 16˚17′. That degree is something to note if you have any planets or points nearby in that sign. Those of you with planets or points close to that degree (I would allow an orb of 1˚- 2˚ maximum) in Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces may also need to pay attention, as this New Moon will make a dynamic aspect to to any planets or points you have between 15˚ and 17˚ in those signs. Expect something to be brought to your attention that requires some action form you.

As a Gemini rising person, I’ll be watching this New Moon in Gemini with curiosity – and curiosity may be a major theme with this particular New Moon – something is going to catch your attention and you may be curious to see what happens next, or how some process is going to pan out. You may be curious about what someone is going to do next – or you you may be in two minds about what you are going to do next – and one reason for this is that the New Moon in Gemini, may trigger a process where you are torn between competing options. You may – literally – be spoilt for choice.

The New Moon in Gemini always suggests more than one possibility – and that’s something to bear in mind, because the New Moon will trigger something, somewhere in your natal chart. Always look at the house position of any New Moon for an indication of the where there may be new beginnings. In Gemini, the New Moon will manifest as ideas, information and communication; so phone calls, things you read or hear about and the people that you meet may be the catalyst for something new taking root in your life.

The New Moon Chart helps us to get down into the specifics, as each New Moon – whatever the sign – has a particular ‘flavour’. This chart shows clearly the concentration of planets in Gemini, with the New Moon conjunct Venus. Mercury and Jupiter are also is a departing conjunction in this sign, and that adds to the communicative qualities already present in the chart. This particular New Moon also makes a square aspect to Saturn – and that adds a serious note to what would otherwise be a light-hearted or insubstantial lunation.

New Moon in Gemini: The Aspects

So, the New Moon conjuncts Venus and Squares Saturn – and that’s it, as far as the major aspects are concerned. However, those aspects take place against a backdrop of the Mercury – Jupiter conjunction making a trine aspect to Pluto, and a sextile aspect to Neptune. Those planets and their connections provide the context for this New Moon – though as they don’t connect directly with the New Moon (or those planets in aspect to it), this influence is, perhaps, less than it otherwise would be.

New Moon in Gemini Conjunct Venus

The New Moon conjunct Venus is the primary aspect made by this lunation, as it’s a virtually exact conjunction. A New Moon in conjunction with Venus usually has the potential to stimulate new conditions – either in terms of relationship, your values or your finances or simply getting more out of life – and if there is a direct contact between this New Moon and important factors in your natal chart – that may be how this New Moon in Gemini will work out for you.

However, don’t assume that this is going to be universally great news – The presence of Venus is a sign that ‘Venusian’ concerns are aligned with the New Moon; it will being about issues that need to be dealt with – usually in the form of a conversation or a discussion – and you may become alerted to financial, business or relational issues through information you receive. Venus is not pro-active, so being on the receiving end of information is more likely than actively seeking it out.

The New Moon in Gemini does signify that you’re going to be receptive to working out what you want from life over the next few months. The germs of ideas, an inner (or outer) debate – all of those are going to be geared towards making positive changes that will benefit you. That does not mean there will be a financial improvement (though it’s possible); the primary function of Venus in conjunction with the New Moon is for you to begin to think about getting the most and the best out of life – in whatever way is most meaningful to you. And the new Moon shows that this is something you really need to do.

New Moon in Gemini Square Saturn

Does the presence of the square to Saturn man that any positivity associated with Venus is lessened in any way? I think the simple answer to that is – only if your expectations and desires are unreal. In Gemini, the New Moon conjunct Venus signifies that you may be indecisive about what you want because there are several avenues open to you and you need to think things through in order to proceed with the most favourable option. Saturn’s presence – plus the square aspect – mean you can’t ignore the moment. Whatever ideas of self-improvement, or other ‘Venus issues’ this New Moon brings your way, they have to be taken seriously.

This New Moon square Saturn is going to ask you to work things out – even if you are reluctant to do so. One of the least positive outcomes of this New Moon may be a tendency to let things slide – and down the line, there may be a price to pay for that. If your concerns are monetary, you need to get any cash issues sorted out now, so you can reap the benefits later. If relationships (personal or professional) are your concern, they will need to put on a secure footing, so that everyone is clear about their responsibilities or shared concerns.

The good news is, if you take action to make improvements you will be able to obtain considerable pleasure from your efforts. Taking things seriously, even relatively ‘unserious’ things – like your own personal style and appearance – will give you a boost if you start working at them now. Remember that Venus has a sweet tooth – If you’re planning to hit the beach in a few weeks time, you may thank yourself (Venus) for having the discipline (Saturn) to cut down on the sugar (Venus) before you go. However, you may not be so happy (Venus square Saturn) if someone else points out (New Moon in Gemini) that you need to lose a few pounds…

New Moon in Gemini: The Background Noise

The background noise to this lunation, the Mercury – Jupiter conjunction and its ‘easy’ aspects to Pluto and Neptune, show there is some optimism that things will work out well – the sextile to Neptune suggests that making necessary changes is not going to be difficult because you may be enthusiastic about doing so – and any decisions you make are going to be harmonious with your existing life situation. This is not a time to rock the boat – more a time to guide things gently towards calm waters.

The trine aspect between the Mercury – Jupiter conjunction and Pluto shows that this has the potential to be a good news new Moon because it’s occurring against a background of positivity representing a radical change from the past. Of course, there is the possibility that Pluto puts us all in a situation where there is little room for manoeuvre – but the end result may be that you find it easier to change your perspective than you thought it would be – and that may contribute towards the optimism that is such a part of this New Moon.
