The full moon in Taurus rose early on Sunday evening. It was already dark, as it was the first day after daylight savings ended. Here in the UK we call it ‘the clocks going back’, and for some reason, that seems to add an extra layer of darkness to it. And suddenly there it was, the ‘Hunters Moon’ rising above the trees and shining directly into my kitchen window. It was that point I decided to write this post, my first post about a full moon in a long while.
Regular subscribers will have noticed that I haven’t posted regularly for some time. I used to write a post on every lunation, but life changes and during the past year the time I’ve had available to write has been limited. Interestingly, for much of that period, my solar return Sun was unaspected in the third house: I can confirm it’s not the best placement for anyone whose livelihood depends on the production of words. That situation is almost worth a post in itself, but here – for one night only – are my thoughts on this month’s full moon in Taurus.

Full Moon in Taurus: The Basics
The full moon in reached culmination at 2˚45′ Taurus, on 26th October at 04:11(UT). In astrology, a full moon symbolises culmination in all senses of that word: events that have been building up manifest around the time of a full moon. As the saying goes, things ‘come to a head’. In Taurus, events may have been a long time coming; this is a slow and steady sign, and there is an inevitability about events that occur around the time of a Taurus full moon.
It’s worth noting that in mundane astrology, Taurus signifies the wider economy and economic concerns and conditions. It represents the value of the cash in your purse, and through its association with agriculture and food production, it also represents the price of food and the cost of food production. Taurus also represents natural resources. Wherever you are in the world when you read this, I’m certain that the price of the most basic commodities is a big issue right now – and that fits perfectly with the symbolism of the full moon in Taurus.
Full Moon in Taurus: The Chart

Full Moon in Taurus: The Story
The chart for this Taurus full moon shows us exactly what the main issues are, because this lunation forms a close t-square aspect with Pluto in Aquarius. This is an intense full moon – and it builds on the process of change symbolised by the outer planets minor trine; in fact it has the potential to be a major transformational stage in that process. Pluto is transformational and the sign of Aquarius is revolutionary – that’s quite a mix. It’s a subject I’ve written about several times since Pluto entered that sign because it’s been such a significant influence on the way the world has changed in recent years.
Again, I’m going to take some meanings from mundane astrology: Pluto represents big money, corruption, exploitation, billionaires, wars – matters that are really significant right now. Aquarius is associated with technology and revolution. So, when we think of AI, data centres, social media, the internet in general – and the billionaires who control those things – we are seeing Pluto in Aquarius in action. Astrology is nothing if not even handed; any resistance to our tech overlords and their increased levels of political control is also Pluto in Aquarius in action.
Let’s get back to the full moon in Taurus; it’s also opposed by Venus retrograde in Libra. Venus retrograde – in fact any retrograde planet – often signifies unresolved issues. I often think of retrograde planets saying, ‘we’ve been here before’, and the purpose of a retrograde cycle is to re-examine, reset and move on. This retrograde Venus is just past the midpoint in its retrograde cycle and it’s at 29˚ 31′ Libra – on the anaretic degree – so this full moon has the potential to be a ‘reset’ moment, as that’s what this part of the Venus retrograde cycle represents.
Venus began its retrograde at 8˚ Scorpio, the Pluto-ruled sign, and as Venus rules Taurus, it echoes the symbolism you’ve just read about: money, economy (Taurus) and power, control and corruption (Pluto – Scorpio). Venus is now strong in Libra (which it also rules) and Libra adds another dimension to my reading of the full moon in Taurus: It’s the sign of love and partnerships, but it also represents rivalries, contests and open enemies.
How appropriate that the full moon in Taurus falls just as there are significant and bitterly contested elections scheduled in many countries around the world – starting on the day of the lunation itself. All of the issues I’ve described in this post will be in play, so is this the big reset moment? The astrology suggests so – but life is rarely that straightforward. Pluto is notorious for power struggles, so contests will be bitter; I doubt anyone will be going down without a fight. The full moon in Taurus puts that in full view.
