Uranus in Gemini: Introduction
We’ve been living with Uranus in Gemini since last year. In 2025, the planet of crazy made its first – and temporary – entrance into that sign. From July through November, you may have felt as if your head was exploding. US readers will remember the furore over the ‘big beautiful bill’ and the sudden unexpected (and unapproved) demolition of the East Wing of the White House as Uranus entered Gemini in July 2025 – and the rest of the world has had to deal with an outpouring of crazy ever since.
Continual exposure to madness is stressful. And here we are in April 2026 with Uranus in Gemini, not just for five months, but until August 2032. That’s a lot of crazy time to get your head around. So, are the next six and a half years going to be a maelstrom of madness? Or will the influence of Uranus in Gemini re-energise the way we think about the world? This may be a stressful transit, but it’s also an inventive and far-sighted one. There is huge positive potential contained in this transit, but we’re going to have to go through the madness first – and believe me, it will be madness on an unprecedented scale. So, how will we handle that?
Uranus in Gemini: The Past
The past is often a great guide to the present – and future – so exploring past encounters with Uranus in Gemini may show us what to expect, and they show that this transit has always brought radical changes in communications, technology and connectivity. That was true between 1858-1866 and 1941-1949. The nineteenth century saw the invention of the typewriter and rotary printer, and the first undersea telegraph cable linking the US to Europe and the first recordings of the human voice.
The twentieth century saw jet engines, microwave ovens, aerosols and polaroid cameras – the first ‘instant’ photographic medium. Both of those Uranus in Gemini moments were revolutionary because they gave us a glimpse of what was possible. They were revolutionary moments that seeded the technological developments that followed, and those new inventions changed our world completely. And that’s what Uranus in this sign does: it opens our mind to new and different ways of being – and that’s revolutionary in the best sense of that word.
Uranus in Gemini: The Present
So, where does that leave us now? At present, Uranus in Gemini is being revolutionary in a major way. it’s breaking things, because Uranus is the planet of break-ups and break downs. In Gemini, this energy works to break communications and connections – and we’re seeing this play out in real time. Let’s take the established pattern of global alliances as an example. The longstanding connections between the US and Europe are breaking apart, because of words and conflicting ideas about how the world should be.
This post isn’t concerned with the rights or wrongs of this situation, but the situation itself is a great example of Uranus in Gemini in action, as both sides (a Gemini concept) are having to look beyond (a Uranus concept) their past relationship and imagine a future (what Uranus does best) based on a completely different (Uranus) world order. And it’s a world order that can’t ignore China. China is also forging new connections, revolutionising trade (also a Uranus in Gemini thing) and revolutionising day to day travel with its ground breaking electric vehicles.
Whether crazy words and arguments upset our world or whether we get our heads around technological progress and opportunity, the result is the same: Uranus in Gemini (as it’s working at present) is part of a grand project (courtesy of the Universe) to remodel our experience of life on this planet. The transiting ‘mini triangle’ of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto is now established in air and fire signs – and will continue in this way until 2028. As I wrote last year, when that outer planetary configuration occurs, the world is never the same again. By 2028, the break with the past will be complete.
Uranus in Gemini: The Future
So, if chaos is how this begins, how will it end? This is where ‘blue sky thinking’ will break convention – and it will break it apart forever. Revolutions do not go into reverse gear, but their direction of travel is often surprising. Right now there are massive issues with AI – and AI is the ultimate in Uranus in Gemini symbolism. Is AI good or bad? Does it benefit society? Is it an asset or does it compromise our essential humanity? Uranus in Gemini has triggered an important debate that will shape our future – and it’s a debate we need to have.
Uranus also symbolises ‘We, the people’. Us. Society. So the Uranus in Gemini will trigger the debate about the future shape of that society – and the role that technology plays in determining that shape. Let me remind you that revolutions occur because there is a power imbalance. Things are tilted one way. The future may bring radical voices and revolutionary ideas about how society functions. If you listen carefully, you will hear them already: some tech billionaires already posit a future where they dominate the world and – basically – enslave the rest of us. What is our response to that going to be?
So, the big question over the next few years may be the extent to which we control technology – or we discover how much technology (and its owners) control us. It’s a complex situation, because right now Uranus in Gemini is not operating in an astrological vacuum; it’s movements are bound to the other outer planets. However, one thing is certain: by the end of this transit, how we think about and engage with technology in a social sense will be radically changed. Uranus is the liberator; there will be debates about freedom of speech and thought, and our freedoms may need to be defined in a new way.
Uranus in Gemini: How it Affects You
Uranus is a transpersonal planet, a generational planet, which is why (along with Neptune and Pluto)it impacts on the shape of our world. However, Uranus transits also impact on all of us at a personal level because we, as individual human beings) are part of that world. If Gemini is big in your natal chart, because you have the Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven in that sign, you’re going to feel this transit at a personal level. You can expect upsets that relate to the planet or point of contact, but you can also expect to feel re-energised, especially of your Gemini energy has been suppressed.
A personal note as an example: this my first post in many months, and it comes just as Uranus has entered my rising sign. Uranus’s first ingress into Gemini blew my mind – and not in a good way. Writers block, lack of focus, feeling wired – you name it – I was feeling crazed. I had to take a break from mental work, a classic Uranus in Gemini manifestation. Now, Uranus’s return to this sign has changed me, and I’ll be doing things in a different way. Ultimately, that’s the Uranus in Gemini message: you only make progress when you open your mind to all that is new.
