And we have the 2024 US election result: Donald Trump won. And won comprehensively. And having predicted the opposite a few days ago, I put my hands up – I got it wrong. When the 2024 US Election result was announced, I looked again at the forecast I made only a few days ago. I looked again at my solar return forecasts for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, and I re-examined the wider astrological influences that are happening right now. In this post, I’m going to revisit my analysis and tip my hat to the Lord of Darkness, our friend Pluto. He is clearly on top of his game.
2024 US Election Result: Kamala Harris Loses
Let’s unpick this one. Kamala Harris’s solar return chart. The Sun in the 10th house conjunct the Midheaven. Pluto rising. The Yod pointing directly at the Sun – Midheaven conjunction. Would I have expected those factors to trump (!) Trump’s 12th house solar return Sun? Ordinarily, yes I would (and I certainly did) and would do so again, but here’s the thing: astrological interpretation always offers alternatives, so here’s the alternative interpretation I could have made.
A spectacular fall from grace. That’s one of the oldest interpretations of the Sun in the solar return 10th house and/or conjunct the Midheaven. In my defence, it’s usually reserved for public figures who have committed disgraceful or scandalous acts, crimes and misdemeanors, and fall from high office as a result. VP Harris has a clean sheet, so that interpretation seemed inappropriate at the time. Yet that’s what has happened. A resounding electoral defeat is a public fall from grace, and all the more so because its scale seems to have been so unexpected and devastating.
Then there’s the Yod configuration that points directly at her Sun. It marks a destiny/karmic moment. Would becoming the first woman president have been a destiny moment? Yes it would, but destiny often has other plans. The alternative take would have been something like this: that fall from grace is also a karmic moment; it points to a change in Harris’s life path. She lost the 2024 US election and will never be President. She is destined to achieve other things – whatever they may be. Unfortunately for her, she will endure stress and discomfort in this crisis moment, before moving on.
This is Harris’s turning point – just not in the way she and many others (including me) envisaged. Getting back to my original forecast, I said that if she won the 2024 US election (the destiny moment) it would be heavily contested and not without stress and challenge – and even violent challenge – as I expected the 2024 US election result to be close and follow the same pattern as 2020. That would also have fitted with the Yod’s interpretation. Astrologers may pick the wrong interpretation, but the Universe always gets it right; nothing happens that isn’t written in the chart, whether you pick one potential interpretation or the other.
2024 US Election Result: Donald Trump Wins
And let’s move on to Donald Trump. The 2024 US election result is a spectacular result for him. So why did I write him off? With his Sun in the 12th house, I thought we were once again in ‘own worst enemy’ territory, especially with his track record and events over the past four years. Being your own worst enemy is a standard 12th house interpretation. I expected the election result to be as close and contested as it was back in 2020, with the waters muddied by court cases, challenges and delays. Trump also had a 12th house solar return Sun that year, so what made the difference this time around?
This is also the solar return placement of the dark horse – another possible interpretation – and it’s the also the placement of the charismatic leader. Many successful politicians are born with the the Sun in this house. This is a solar return placement, so it’s temporary, but what it demonstrates is how readily Trump’s supporters identify with him, and that’s essential to a person whose own identity has become synonymous with a mass movement. This lies at the heart (the Sun) of his appeal to many, as the dreams of many ordinary Americans are projected onto him.
To his supporters, Donald Trump is whoever they want him to be: hero, savior, a quasi-religious figure – and the embodiment of the American dream. That folks, is powerful 12th house (and Neptune) stuff. Whether you love him or hate him, it’s no wonder he got their vote – they worship him. The 2024 US election result is also reflected by Trump’s Neptune in his 10th house. He is their ideal President. Neptune is also part of a minor trine that includes Jupiter (12th house) and Pluto (8th house). In my original analysis, I read this trine as emotional and vengeful, with a messiah complex thrown in – especially as the Sun squares Neptune.
I think that still holds true, but this aspect pattern seems to have had a real influence on the 2024 US election result thanks to that 12th house Jupiter; it’s literally the ‘get out of jail’ card. Combine that with the 10th house Neptune giving mass appeal and Pluto (8th) providing what one UK newspaper called a ‘stunning political resurrection’ and you have the perfect description of why the 2024 US election result turned out the way it did for Donald Trump. It was a powerful turning point for him.
2024 US Election Result: Pluto Wins Bigger…
The election result has come as a shock to many people – myself included – but that’s exactly how Pluto works. Shock and awe. All or nothing. Defeat and total victory. It happens big and it happens fast and it changes everything. The 2024 US election result is a reminder of what Plutonic power can do. And there is no going back from that. Pluto is the real big winner in the 2024 US election because Pluto’s power is so dominant right now. During the election, Pluto manifested everywhere, from the billionaires supporting Trump, to Harris’s rallying cry, ‘We’re not going back”. This election had Pluto baked in – and this is why.
The 2024 US election result is part of the massive transformational process that began with the Great Conjunction in 2020. The critical points are the anaretic degrees at 29˚ Capricorn and 0˚ Aquarius where the Great Conjunction took place. The cusp between these two signs has been sensitised like you wouldn’t believe – and the truth is this: had the 2024 US election result gone the other way, the the election would have still been the key event in that process, and it would have marked a complete break with the past. There would have been no going back either way.
The astrology of the moment backs up that assertion. At present, there are three major Plutonic events occurring in the heavens:
- The final Pluto ingress into Aquarius – on November 20th – marks a moment of revolutionary change from which there is no return.
- Mars opposite Pluto (exact) on November 3rd -4th, with Mars on the degree of the “Great Conjunction” on election day acting as the trigger.
- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in a rare transiting minor trine (mini triangle) that will be in orb between 2024 – 2028, with both Uranus and Neptune changing signs during that time. This aspect pattern will usher in a new ‘zeitgeist’ and a new social and political era.
And all of that is happening right now – and the process will continue to unfold over the next four years – at least.
The catalyst for this change was the US electorate. They were free to choose which way to go and they made their choice. Free will is essential to the way astrology works, but the electorate’s choice does not change the astrological significance of the 2024 US election result. Pluto works at a fundamental level, and (as I noted in my earlier post), “Something is dying and something is being born.” This election marks the death of the old order – and that would have happened regardless of the result. We don’t yet know what is being born, but we know the birth process is unlikely to be pain-free.
And it will affect all of us. The 2024 US election result has global significance. This hasn’t just changed everything for the USA, it’s changed the world for everyone. We are all going to experience Pluto’s fall-out, one way or another, and we will have to reconstruct our lives – and our world – to cope with whatever new conditions prevail. Forget the certainties of the old world. They are gone. And they are not coming back.
