You can’t ignore Donald Trump. His presence is all pervasive. Even if – like me – you’re not a US citizen and don’t live in the United States, his influence on world affairs has a major impact in what happens in other countries too. So, with this in mind, I was always going to be preparing a solar return chart for Donald Trump in 2025. I have to say, events are proving that this is the right decision. Donald Trump has become the most powerful person in the world to the extent that everything seems to revolve around his personal whims, wants – and executive orders.

So how do you assess the year ahead for someone who, as an individual, seems to have merged his entire being not just with the job of President (and, yes, it’s only a job) but also with the country which he now appears to rule like a king? It’s rare that the direction of world affairs is revealed by the solar return chart of one man, but that’s where we may be in 2025-2026. So, in this post, I’m going to look at what the major themes of POTUS 47’s year ahead are going to be – because that may provide a clue to how it’s going to be for the rest of us too.

Donald Trump: His New Solar Return Chart

Donald Trump turns 79 on Saturday, June 14th, but his solar return falls on Friday June 13th (hold that thought…). I’ve prepared his solar return chart for Washington DC, because that’s where he’s most likely to be, given the fact he has a birthday parade on Saturday June 14th. I’ve used the topocentric system of houses (because it’s the one I currently use most) and I’m looking at the chart on a ‘standalone’ basis, but with the proviso that any meaningful contacts with his natal chart will be noted.

Donald Trump: Solar Return Chart 2025 1

Regular readers will know that this is not the first time I’ve prepared a solar return chart for Donald Trump. I did so for both the 2020 and 2024 election years – and I have no doubt that I’ll do so again. So, here below is the solar return chart for the next twelve months, and it comes into full effect around lunchtime on Friday 13th June. When you get down to reading the analysis, you’ll probably notice that some of the major themes seem to be already in place, and that’s because solar return charts often ‘fade in’ a couple of months or so before the solar return date.

Donald Trump: Solar Return Chart Overview

Here it is – what’s in store for Donald Trump over the next 12 months? Unlike last year, there is no strong aspect pattern like a t-square – providing inner drive. This solar return chart is tense and active, with the active, angular houses emphasized – except the first house the house of self. The solar return Ascendant is in Virgo and that makes this a year of ‘subjective improvement’. Implementation of plans are two potential approaches that may be seen this coming year. As is dealing with criticism. Fickle Gemini is at the top of the chart, so changes will be constant. The main features are as follows:

  • Most planets are in the southern hemisphere – the public realm.
  • Most of the planets (including the Sun and Moon ) are in the angular houses.
  • The emphasis on angular houses suggests an active year of strong powerful events.
  • The Sun is at the top of the chart in the tenth house, widely conjunction Jupiter in Cancer.
  • The Sun(10) squares Saturn and Neptune conjunct in Aries in the 7th house.
  • The Sun is inconjunct the Moon(4th) and Pluto (5th).
  • The Moon in Capricorn is in its own house (4th).
  • Mercury (10) is conjunct Trump’s natal Mercury.
  • Solar return Mars (12th) is conjunct Trump’s natal Mars (12th) – a Mars return.
  • The outer planet minor trine falls in houses 5,7 & 9.
  • The chart contains the two most potent and troublesome aspects this year: Mars square Uranus and Jupiter square Saturn.

So, it’s a public, highly visible year (appropriate for a president) and it promises to be event driven. What those events will be? The aspects in the chart will point towards the main areas of activity in the chart, but when I tell you that the angular houses emphasize home and homeland (4th), relationships and open enemies (7th) and executive power (10th), it seems likely that things will continue in the way that year already seems to have begun – and that’s because the aspects that make June 2025 one of the most tense and dramatic months of the year, are effective in POTUS 47’s solar return chart for the next 12 months.

Donald Trump: Solar Return Chart Analysis

I haven’t the time or energy to write an exhaustive analysis, so I’ll try to keep this as brief as I can. I’m going to start with the Sun and its aspects, then run thorough the other important placements. One of the most difficult things is trying to keep this analysis focused on Donald Trump ‘the man’ as opposed to POTUS 47 or potential national or international events, because they are so closely related. And that’s not easy when every action that affects us all seems to be a direct expression of one man’s psyche. His life impacts on us all – across the globe.

Solar Return Chart Sun: Analysis

In the tenth house, The Sun is a sign of executive power and personal prominence, so no surprises there. It’s conjunct (wide) Jupiter in Cancer, and Jupiter makes everything bigger, so that suggests Donald Trump’s power is going to increase. Tenth house Jupiter in Cancer is literally astrological shorthand for ‘The Big Beautiful Bill”, something he is really attached to. It’s a powerful, patriarchal, even imperial, combination, as it suggests expansion of powers in a broad sense, including expansion of homeland. He’s not going to stop talking about Canada any time soon.

The Sun conjunct Jupiter also comes with a warning: Jupiter exaggerates and overdoes. It’s the planet of overreach, exaggeration and, in the 10th house, it’s a mark of hubris. Hubris is excessive pride. Arrogance, ignoring the rules, and breaking the law are common with Jupiter here. This year, Donald Trump (the Sun) is likely to believe (Jupiter) that the rules (10th house) do not apply to him – in a big way – and that is going to strain relationships.

The Sun and Jupiter are square the Saturn – Neptune conjunction in Aries in the 7th house. That shows tension in Donald Trump’s relationships, both personal and professional, won’t be easy. Saturn (7th) stands for formal relationships and contracts, longstanding associations and cold or cooling relationships. This is the house of projection, so Donald Trump may project accusations of restriction on parties with whom he is in a formal relationship. For example he could accuse co-equal branches of government of limiting his actions, or cast doubt on their motives or legitimacy.

Neptune dissolves, so is Donald Trump going to dissolve some long standing relationships during the next twelve months? It’s also a possibility, particularly if he finds them limiting in any way. Saturn and Neptune are conjunct; reality hits fantasy, boundaries are overrun, structures and boundaries are being tested and may collapse. We can be certain that the Jupiter – Saturn square is going to lead Donald Trump to stress-test every relationship that keeps the ‘good ship USA’ afloat. What seemed to be permanent bonds may collapse if Trump considers them his open enemies.

Solar Return Chart: The ‘Mini Triangle”

Saturn and Neptune in the 7th house connect the Sun to the ‘mini triangle’, the outer planet minor trine that signifies a dramatic process of change taking place over the next three years. This 7th house combination – dissolving structures – is connected to Pluto (5th) that shows Donald Trump is prepared to recreate everything – in his image. This placement shows a deep and unquenchable need for personal recognition. Are we going to see monuments and buildings re-named in his honor? Is his portrait going to be displayed in every public building?

It’s crazy, but it’s possible, especially as this Pluto placement is connected to the hubris of the Sun – Jupiter conjunction via a inconjunct aspect from that 10th house Jupiter. Pluto is also trined by 9th house Uranus, and that suggests turmoil and revolution in the 9th house arena, i.e., the legal system, higher education, commerce, international relations, science and the media. We already know that organizations have been under pressure to conform with what Donald Trump wants them to be – or be destroyed – so it seems that trend is going to continue. Control of belief systems is the theme here.

Solar Return Mars in the Twelfth House

We need to talk about Mars. Donald Trump has Mars in his natal chart 12th house and that means he has a problem with direct confrontation. Veiled threats and insinuations are his stock in trade, as is getting others to do ‘the dirty work’, because Mars in this house tends to hide. Taking responsibility for your actions (Mars) is a no go area. There is always an excuse – valid or otherwise. With that natal placement echoed in Donald Trump’s solar return chart, that’s going to a feature of this solar return year too – especially as Donald Trump’s Mars return is baked in to his solar return chart.

And even more than that, we need to talk about the Mars – Uranus square. This makes unpredictability and volatility a given during the solar return year. Unpredictable (Uranus) impulsiveness and anger (Mars) can lead to escalation in all kinds of situations. Creating chaos is a means of maintaining control, because it keeps people guessing. Except – ultimately – you do know what to expect, and that’s chaos, crisis and unrest. Donald Trump has the Sun conjunct Uranus in his natal chart; a predisposition to mayhem is already part of his psyche and that’s going to be readily expressed this solar return year.

Solar Return Chart Moon: Analysis

Finally, the solar return Sun is inconjunct (150˚) the solar return Moon. This aspect is awkward because it suggests a fundamental unease between Donald Trump’s conscious objectives and his inner needs. The Moon in the fourth house suggests a deep need for security, yet his conscious actions may threaten that need. I read recently about Trump’s plans to build a ballroom at the White House – and astrologically, those plans fit with the placement of this solar return moon. There’s a standing joke that every autocrat spends money on a huge golden palace – except it’s no joke.

In Donald Trump’s solar return chart, the Moon is in Capricorn, the sign of construction. He will build that ballroom – but at a deep level, any project of that nature revels a deep inner need to belong and secure his place. With the solar return Moon in the 4th house, that theme will intensify as the year progresses. The Moon clings to where it feels most comfortable – and that’s because vulnerability is pronounced with this solar return placement. Essentially, Donald Trump feels intensely vulnerable – and that’s why this placement is so at odds with the solar return Sun.

Outward displays of power (military parades, subservient acolytes, bullying and chaos) do not always show a person who is feeling emotionally comfortable. Donald Trump may have an insatiable hunger for power and control (Moon in Capricorn, 4th house)) this solar return year – and that emotional driver, untouched by any other aspect in his solar return chart, is unlikely to be mediated by any other influence. This placement is highly defensive; think of it as building a fortress – both internally and externally..

Donald Trump: Solar Return Chart Summary

Is any of this unexpected? Perhaps not. What I’ve attempted to do here is analyze the stand out features of Donald Trump’s 2025 solar return chart, and I accept that not everyone will like or agree with my interpretation, but it’s pretty hard to see that the year is going to unfold in a way that is any different to the way that it seems to have begun. So what can we expect more of?

  • Increase in visible personal power.
  • Many attempts to overwhelm opponents – or those who are perceived as such.
  • Rapid, unexpected changes and backtracking.
  • Chaos and confusion.
  • Violence and unpredictability.
  • Secrecy and obfuscation.
  • The hubris problem – disregarding boundaries, rules, laws and agreements.

I could go on, but so far, it seems that the year will follow the course that seems to have already been set. However, there will be surprises in Donald Trump’s life during the year. I’m looking once more to that troublesome Mars. Mars attacks, and in the 12th house, you don’t see it coming. With that Mars – Uranus square, and Uranus in the 9th house, you also don’t know where that attack is going to be coming from. Donald Trump may need to retreat to his fortress during this solar return year. It’s not going to be an easy one – for any of us.
