The April 2024 horoscope comes at a busy time in the astrological calendar. We are in the middle of an eclipse season, with April’s total solar eclipse in Aries taking place early this month, on April 8th. After the traumatic lunar eclipse in Libra that rocked the world at the end of March, I’m expecting this powerful solar eclipse to make its presence felt by the end of the first week of April – and in the weeks and months to come. For all of us, the solar eclipse will have a major impact at a personal level – and this month’s horoscope will reflect that in a big way.
However, before we get that far, Mercury turns retrograde in Aries on April 2nd – and it will hit that sweet spot where the eclipse took place by the middle of the month. That is going to give us all something to think about. As if that wasn’t enough, there is something big stirring in the heavens: the approaching Jupiter – Uranus conjunction is getting closer by the day. I’ll be writing a post on that (and the solar eclipse and Mercury retrograde) in the next few days or so, but we also need to talk about Mars… Mars is going to run into Saturn and Neptune this month. It’s action all around!
April 2024 Horoscope: Aries
A lot of April’s action is going to be happening in your sign: buckle up Aries, it’s going to be one heck of a ride. The eclipse brings a ‘new you’. If there was ever a time to make a fresh start, that time is now. Every one of you will have your own reasons for doing so, but it’s time to draw a line under the past. With a solar eclipse, there may be unforeseen circumstances that put you into the space where that is the only option. Those of you born after the eclipse date may experience some form of psychological or spiritual renewal; early Aries people may notice a more immediate impact.
When Mercury turns retrograde, don’t be tempted to rush into making radical changes, no matter how much you want to. You’re naturally impulsive – and something (or someone) may provoke you into a making a temperamental response. Things may frustrate you, but you’ll reach your goal more easily if you use this energy productively. Later in the month, there may be some financial surprises that may be connected to what’s going on now. Mars will cut through any doubts or misinformation as the month goes by. The Full Moon in Scorpio at the end of the month will show that your instincts about something were correct.
April 2024 Horoscope: Taurus
The planets are bunched up in the heavens – and your sign is suffering from overload. The solar eclipse is going to bring this to your attention by reminding you of the need to let go at a psychological level. Your usual response to that may be to plough on, but Mercury retrograde is going to make you reconsider that response by the middle of the month: to get to the bottom of why you feel the way you do, you may have to work out what it is you’ve been avoiding. Denial is not an option; get rid of your excess baggage and carry a lighter load.
As Jupiter and Uranus come together in your sign, you may be surprised at how much better life appears when you look at it from a new and different perspective. No longer bound by the constraints of the past, you may have the opportunity to strike out in a different direction – much to the surprise of everyone who knows you. If you want to push yourself further than you have before, or simply do things in a different way, go ahead. Mars is going to make you restless, but you can use that energy to become aligned with causes you are passionate about. The restraints are off – and you have no excuses not to get involved.
April 2024 Horoscope: Gemini
Where do you belong? That question is one that may surface at the time of the solar eclipse, as you may feel the need redefine exactly who you are and where you stand on a number of issues that you hold dear. The reasons that force this re-evaluation may be unexpected, but it’s possible that the words or actions of your friends, colleagues or ‘audience’ may make you reconsider your position on a number of things. Gemini is often accused of being hard to pin down – and the solar eclipse may see the pin being pointed in your direction with some force.
You’re going to have to come up with some quick ideas – but try to avoid saying the first thing that comes into your head. That’s especially true if you use social media (of course you do…) as a viral ‘pile-on’ could result. If you want to reach a more receptive audience, you’re going to have to be more careful with your words. Becoming receptive to the art of listening would be a good start – and Jupiter and Uranus may help you there. You tend towards the unemotional, but developing an uncharacteristically sympathetic style may serve you well – and it may overcome blocks and uncertainty in your career too.
April 2024 Horoscope: Cancer
The solar eclipse signals a fresh start or new phase in your career – or the part of your life that best represents your public status. A solar eclipse often signals an event that surprises you in some way – and the surprise may be something that moves things onto another level. In truth, such changes are always overdue, so if you feel a push coming from the universe – stop and listen. That is exactly what you will have to do when Mercury retrograde hits that ‘sweet spot’ mid month. You may be happy to rush ahead with your ambitions for the future, but in reality, you’re going to need to plot your course with some care.
Mars is going to make you restless, but your energies may be used well if you work hard to expand any previously limited points of view or overcome any vague notions that really need to be given much better shape and form. If you’re going to get anywhere, you need to cut through the things that are holding you back and have the courage to expand into new areas. You may be surprised by a little help from your friends: a suggestion from a friend or acquaintance may open your mind to some innovative new ideas or provide you with some positive feedback. This month, it’s all about encouragement – and what you do with it.
April 2024 Horoscope: Leo
The solar eclipse signals a fresh start in the house of opportunity – and that’s a really exciting prospect. If you feel as if things have reached a stalemate and you don’t know how to move things on, the universe may present you with the means to do just that. Of course, we do tend to make our own luck – sometimes opportunities arise and we fail to recognise them for what they are. This time, you should be in no doubt: you will see things in a different light from the moment of the solar eclipse. The question is, how are you going to respond to that? Mercury retrograde may make that question difficult to answer.
There are so many directions in which you could go, but you’re going to have to choose just one. You may want to toss a coin or trust to luck, but to maximise your potential for success, you may need to think carefully about short term gains versus long term security – especially as the Jupiter – Uranus conjunction suggests that we are taking about your career, public status and long term achievements. That is where a major surprise is going to occur – and it could be anything from a golden opportunity to a complete change of direction. Think carefully, be brave – and leave all doubts and fears behind.
April 2024 Horoscope: Virgo
The solar eclipse is going to introduce some serious changes – and fast – as an unexpected and far reaching opportunity comes your way. However, there is a price you have to pay for most things – and this month, you may receive the invoice. How are you going to pay the bill? That dilemma is going to be accentuated by the presence of Mercury retrograde – and as a Mercury-ruled person, you’re sensitive to that change of direction. And changes of direction may be the issue. The solar eclipse is a turning point: if you are going to move something onto another level, then something else will have to be sacrificed in return.
Whatever it concerns, that dynamic will apply – and it will impact on something that is emotionally important to you. Mercury retrograde’s presence may be fortunate here – you (of all people) are likely to be methodical in you approach before you take such a significant and life-changing step. By the middle of the month, the pressure will be on you to have your plan in place. Mars shows that your partner will be impacted by your decision: there may be arguments and frustration, but with focus and effort you can work through this. Clarity and honesty may be issues you need to resolve.
April 2024 Horoscope: Libra
The solar eclipse falls in your house of relationships, partners and love. And, as a Libra, they are issues close to your heart. You are concerned with how things relate – and how those relationships appear. Around the time of the eclipse, your concern may be to ensure that your partnership (if you have one) is in balance. Events around the time of the eclipse may suggest there is room for improvement in that area, or that the partnership needs to be taken to another level. Mercury retrograde is going to alert you to that mid-month: there may be important matters you and your partner need to discuss around that time.
Although you are a diplomatic person, you may need to take care about speaking in haste. If there are difficult or sensitive issues to discuss, you may prefer to wait until Mercury goes direct to do so. However, one thing is certain: the Jupiter – Uranus conjunction is going to make some prompt some unforeseen changes in the balance of your relationship. There may be a financial aspect to this, so if you are in a financial agreement with anyone, ensure that they (or you) are capable of paying their fair share. Disagreements may arise from a lack of organisation – or an excess of control. Work it out.
April 2024 Horoscope: Scorpio
Solar Eclipses happen fast – especially when they are in Aries. This solar eclipse will affect your heath, work and lifestyle – not necessarily all of them, but bear in mind these things are often connected. The underlying message is that you need a new approach if you’re going to be able to keep things working well. A fresh approach to your personal maintenance is often a good thing – but eclipses tend to confront you with error messages if our personal organisation has been lacking in any way. It’s easy to take for granted the stuff of everyday life; we only notice when things don’t go as planned.
And you may have to plan for surprises this month: they are likely to come in the relationship sector. A surprising disagreement could occur, or you may need to complete a legal agreement or other form of commitment. If that’s so, make sure that any agreements are on solid ground and fully understood by both parties. Mercury retrograde shows you need to guard against making commitments in haste – even if the pressure is on you to do otherwise. Fortunately, Mars in your creative and pleasure zone is going to power through and restrictions or disappointments you may have experienced in that department!
April 2024 Horoscope: Sagittarius
The solar eclipse lands in your pleasure zone and, as you’re a lover of excitement, that’s probably fine by you. However, you may want to think about the presence of Mercury retrograde before you book that sky-diving course. Jumping before you look is not recommended this month – and not just because Jupiter and Uranus are meeting up in your house of health. The literal meaning of that pairing is ‘big break’; I’m sure you would rather have your big break at work – and not in the emergency department! A propensity for accidents aside, your working day could become frenetic as the pace increases dramatically this month.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as you may have a sudden opportunity to do more exciting work; you may relish the prospect of working with more freedom, or the chance to be more innovative at work. This will mean some radical changes in the pattern of your life, but Sagittarius loves variety, so that may suit you well. Mars makes some important contacts; its energy is variable in Pisces, but that tends to suit you too. This impacts on your home life – you have the energy to work through a limiting situation and deal with some uncertainties this month. Things may be tense at home some of the time as a result.
April 2024 Horoscope: Capricorn
The solar eclipse in Aries is going to land on your doormat. And it may change everything – at least as far as your home and family are concerned. Under the influence of a solar eclipse, even the most deeply rooted Capricorn may have the desire to re-root elsewhere – and that impulse may become pronounced this month. Before you rush to pack your bags and load your belongings into a van, you may want to think about the influence of Mercury retrograde – because the solar eclipse and Mercury retrograde work together. If you want to change your domestic life in any way – give it some careful consideration before you act.
That’s applicable even if you have to do things in a short timeframe, or need to meet a particular deadline, or adjust to a sudden change of mind – and as Jupiter and Uranus are going to connect in your creative zone so you may have to resist redecorating the house on a whim – for the moment. That’s not to say your design ideas are bad or wildly extravagant; you simply need to be certain that you’re doing the right thing. Financially, there is also the risk that Mars will make you mentally forthright and restless. You will not take no for an answer this month.
April 2024 Horoscope: Aquarius
Sometimes you need to get your head straight about a few things. This is that time. The solar eclipse signals a change of mind, or that a new set of ideas will be appearing between your ears. It’s possible that this will manifest as a flash of inspiration rather than a ‘u-turn’, but you never know for certain, as Mercury retrograde may inject a note of uncertainty into everything you read, hear or think. You may not know what to think of some of the news you receive around the time of the solar eclipse. It may prompt an impulsive or even angry reaction – it’s may be better to process the information and reach a conclusion at a later date.
Jupiter and Uranus are going to add to the excitement and uncertainty. Shocks and surprises may be experienced in your home and family arena – it’s a restless influence and it’s one that sometimes prompts the desire to relocate. If you’re happy where you are, you may think about making a few changes in a different way: there may be a big change in the number of people living in your home, or you may decide to study or work from home. What ever happens, a change of pace at home will be the result. One reason for this may be financial: action may be needed to keep things stable. Be mindful about your resources.
April 2024 Horoscope: Pisces
The solar eclipse may provide you with a fresh start in a material sense – but that may not occur in a way you would normally expect it to. And it will happen fast. Whatever happens, you will be made aware that the way you have dealt with the material world in the past is no longer applicable. Things have changed, and you must change too. As Mercury turns retrograde just a few days prior to the eclipse, you may be affected in a material sense by some news or some other form of communication. I would suggest you take care not to be scammed or duped, as something you hear or read may be misleading.
Getting your financial affairs in order is the most positive thing you can do this month – and if that means taking time to find the best deals or the best savings account, so be it. Mars is in your sign, so you will have a lot of energy to devote to tacking issues that you have previously avoided – or simply forgotten about. Deal with them now, before Jupiter and Uranus turn your head and blow your mind with the prospect of things that are going to be far more exciting and appealing to you. You may be fizzing with new ideas as the month progresses – but you may also be taken by surprise. And both things are possible.
