The Astrology of November 2024: Introduction

The Astrology of November 2024 is up for inspection – for a few obvious reasons. Every year I publish an annual forecast of the major astrological themes that will dominate the year to come. Last December, I posted the Big Horoscope for 2024. It’s not a personal horoscope written ‘by sign’ in the same way I produce the monthly horoscopes you’ll be familiar with. It’s a month by month breakdown of what’s ahead of us over the next 12 months – and it also serves as an ‘aide memoire’ when I’m preparing the monthly horoscopes and commenting on the major astrological events of the year.

So, in the light of recent events, I thought I would revisit my forecast about the astrology of November 2024. My overall prediction for 2024 was for a year of tumultuous change and the following is from my introduction to the Big Horoscope 2024: The Year Ahead:

The Universe is telling us that this is going to be a year of significant and lasting change – and it starts in January when the ‘Pluto in Aquarius’ trailer is going to be previewing globally. That sets the scene for this year – and beyond – so events that take place in 2024 will have a significance that goes beyond any immediate or surface impact that they may have during the year... You had better get used to the idea that things are going to be different – whether that’s in a good way or a bad way, only time and the Gods will tell…

So, we now know what that change is (so far…) and I’m sure opinion will stay divided on the merits or otherwise of the situation. I also thought I would remind you of what I said about the astrology of November 2024 – from the perspective of a year ago. The extract below was first published in December 2023 – and even then, November 2024 was promising to be one heck of a month. It was never going to be easy…

The Astrology of November 2024: From The 2024 Big Horoscope

The November 2024 horoscope is significant because of the power of the moment – and there will be several big moments. November is an important months in an important year. Pluto re-enters Aquarius – and this time it’s permanent (until 2044).Pluto’s ingress into a new sign marks a major transition: we are officially done with Pluto in Capricorn. This marks a shift in the power dynamic that has dominated world events since 2008 – the time of the great financial crash that brought the true meaning of Pluto in Capricorn to our attention.

Since 2008, we have seen a dramatic surge in the extent, power and wealth of the super rich and billionaire class – the ‘Plutocrats’, That is over. It’s official – but what is going to take its place? If you were thinking of throwing a party to celebrate – think again. Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius is not going to make for an easy time – and I feel things could go one of two ways.

Either, Pluto in Aquarius (literally the power of the collective) reclaims power for the people through democratic means and there is a redistribution of wealth – an outcome that accords totally with the meaning of Pluto in Aquarius). Or ‘people power’ becomes ‘populism’ – and that’s something else entirely. Populism is orchestrated and/or funded by billionaires (and/or those who seek power and control) and the usual mechanism is to convince the voting populace that they are acting in the interests of ‘the people’. You may hear a lot about ‘the will of the people’ in November 2024, and you will also hear about the importance of democracy.

Either way, Pluto is an indicator of extremes and, in revolutionary Aquarius, it suggests the beginning of Pluto’s transit through this sign is not going to be an easy one. As Pluto enters Aquarius it activates the point of the Great Conjunction. If the Jupiter – Saturn cycle that began in 2021 marked the beginning of a new structural cycle, Pluto passing over that point is the demolition squad that blows the old structure apart. Mars (in opposition to Pluto) presses the red button; the opposition is exact on the anaretic degree (29˚) in Cancer – Capricorn, just before Mars changes signs on November 5th.

Take cover; the fall out will be huge. And it’s not going away any time soon. This month Mars slows down as it prepares to turn retrograde, so the Mars – Pluto opposition is going to remain in orb until early 2025 when Mars drops back into Cancer from Leo. (Incidentally, that means we will experience Mars opposite Pluto in 2025 too – but that is for another time). Mars retrograde in Leo/Cancer is going to be a major influence on events from late 2024 into 2025 – and it’s going to be asking questions about who is King. Or Queen.

A volatile month ends with another retrograde, Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the freedom loving sign, but Mercury retrograde may make us look again at what is meant by ‘freedom’. Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius is reckless, but it also represents wisdom and learning. When Mercury is retrograde, it often expresses ‘Virgo-style’ as it becomes more focused and analytical. I associate Sagittarius with questions. As November draws to a close, a lot of people are going to be asking, ‘What the heck just happened?’ You may be one of those people.

The Astrology of November 2024: Pluto in Aquarius

This section is an update to the original post – so apologies to earlier readers! As I was writing my post on the Mars-Pluto opposition, I re-read the Aquarius section of my book, Real Life Astrology: The Planets in Signs (see link above and at bottom of page) and thought it would be appropriate to make an addition to this article. In that book, I looked at the influence of Pluto through the signs from a historical perspective and this is what I wrote:

Pluto in Aquarius is coming to a universe near you. By the time you read this book it may have arrived. Pluto makes its first ingress into this sign in 2023 and will not leave until 2044. Stand by for a revolution – or a whole series of them. After all, that’s what happened last time Pluto entered this sign. Pluto in Aquarius shifts power away from the establishment and towards the people. Pluto was last in Aquarius between 1777-1798, and they were seriously revolutionary times.

The US fought for and gained independence. The French disposed of their monarchy and declared the First Republic and, in keeping with Aquarius’s scientific and technological associations, James Watt invented the steam engine, without which, the industrial revolution would not have happened. Revolutions come in many forms.

However, all revolutions have their victims. Slavery was abolished in the UK during Pluto’s transit through this sign, but industrial workers were enslaved by the working practices of the new industrial age. Revolution does not guarantee peace, as power is contested – often violently so. Will that happen this time around? I suspect it will. Some revolutions may be bloody and others less so. A ‘green’ industrial revolution is as likely as a social or political revolution.

One thing is certain: the generation born at this time will inherit a world of turbulence and change. Society will have changed in terms of its social structures and social organization. The all-consuming power of technology may be the thing to watch out for. Beware of the ‘tech-bro’ Plutocrats and their unimaginable wealth…

In answer to the question, “What the heck just happened?”, this is exactly what has just happened. I have no doubt that this process is about to be repeated by the astrology of November 2024 and its effects will be as far reaching as the effects of Pluto in Aquarius were back in the eighteenth century.

The Astrology of November 2024: Moving Forwards

Towards the end of next month I’ll be posting the forecast for 2025, and that also promises to be a volatile year, with both Uranus and Neptune changing signs, as well as a host of other astrological delights. It’s a useful exercise to know how things are going – and even if you don’t yet know the detail (that comes with the individual posts) you certainly get a feel for how the year is going to unfold. I’m now putting together next year’s forecast, so, bring it on 2025, let’s see what you have in store…
