The full moon in Taurus comes at a time when astrological indicators – and events here on earth – are pointing in one direction only, and that’s the direction of total, transformative change, the kind of change from which there is no going back. In a month when the world seems to have reached its tipping point, it seems unlikely that this full moon in Taurus will reveal a rapid return to stability, growth, material prosperity and good environmental stewardship. I suspect the full moon will shine its light on many things, but that light will reflect the world as it is, and that’s a world in turmoil.

In this post, I’m going to explain why the full moon in Taurus, the sign we associate most with stability, is telling us we need to get used to radical change. That may seem so contradictory, but this full moon is hard-wired into the process of disruption and transformation. It represents its culmination – or at least the culmination of a stage in the process. The full moon’s light is going to reflect where we are in that process. It will focus our attention on the moment. We are where we are. And you are where you are. And, by the way, you need to get ready for the rollercoaster ride…

Full Moon in Taurus: The Essentials

The full Moon in Taurus (24˚) is a supermoon that culminates on November 15th at 21:28 (UT). Taurus is an earth sign, known for being realistic and focused on the present. It’s a sign linked to being grounded and practical. It symbolizes loyalty, endurance and reliability. It has downsides – no sign is perfect – as Taurus is also a notably greedy, materialistic and hedonistic sign. It’s also regarded as passive, inflexible and narrow minded. It’s conservative, traditional and looks to the past. So which presentation of Taurus is this lunation going to bring to our attention? The answer is all of them.

I want you to think about what we associate with a Taurus Moon in a natal chart. It’s symbolic of emotional steadiness, yet in my experience, those who find it difficult to adjust to change often have the Moon in this most fixed and retentive of signs. People with the Moon in Taurus – more than any other sign – hate change and resist it at all costs, even when the personal cost is a high price. For many people with the Moon in Taurus, holding onto the past is their emotional safe space in an uncertain world. And they will do so even if it compromises the future.

This is a full moon in Taurus, not a natal chart placement, but the dynamic I’ve described above, runs through this lunation. At the meeting point between the past and the present (which is where we are now) you need to decide whether you are going to hold on to the past and resist the inevitability of change or stay grounded and resilient enough to weather turbulence and uncertainty. That is going to be true in a personal and collective sense, and the choice needs to be made now, as the full moon in Taurus shows the spirit of the new age solidifying into something we will have to live with for a long time.

Full Moon in Taurus: The Chart

All of this is – of course – written in the full moon in Taurus chart. The Moon is in close conjunction with Uranus, and Uranus is an integral part of the transiting outer planet minor trine. This outer planet ‘mini triangle’ will be operational between now and 2028. This powerful and influential outer planet transiting aspect is, of course, also connected to the volcanic and explosive Mars – Pluto opposition. And Pluto is – literally – minutes away from its final ingress into Aquarius which happens on November 20th 2024.

Full Moon in Taurus: The Aspects

Those connections are the big signifiers of change, and this lunation is going to be one of the triggers that moves the process along. Within the symbolic meanings contained in the full moon chart, is a powerful reminder that forces that appear to be contradictory are somehow in total alignment. And I’m talking about the conservative light of this full moon being the light through which we are seeing radical and systemic change. It’s going to be different from everything you have ever known, yet it promises a return to good old-fashioned comfort and security. It’s a radical reset – and that theme will be personal for some of you too.

Full Moon in Taurus Conjunct Uranus

And this is why. Conservatism (Taurus) and radicalism(Uranus) are hand in hand. That’s the light that is shining right now. It’s lighting up feelings that are both chaotic and traditionalist. It’s highlighting a conservative revolution. It’s enabling us to see something that is reactionary and unpredictable. I suspect none of us know exactly what the future holds – and I say this as one who is in the business of forecasting. The full moon in Taurus (the sign of predictability) is shining its light on where we are at, and when it’s conjunct Uranus, chaos is the only reliable outcome. Uncertainty is the only certainty.

Uranus is retrograde in Taurus and it’s nearing the end of its journey through that sign. Uranus will make its first ingress into Gemini in July 2025. It’s work will have been done. This full moon is a reminder of how Uranus in Taurus has changed the world. Uranus’s journey has up-ended everything we assumed to be solid: the global economy, the liberal consensus, the environment and our value systems – they have broken up under the influence of Uranus. Everything we took for granted has been torn apart. It’s going to be different from now onward. And it won’t be subtle or comfortable.

Full Moon in Taurus & The Outer Planet Mini Triangle

The full moon in Taurus in close contact with the outer planet mini triangle tells us that this is part of a long process of demolition and building something new. That’s what the outer planet mini triangle represents – a seismic shift in the way we live our lives. It’s purpose is to introduce a new ‘spirit of the age’ or ‘zeitgeist’. Major social, cultural, scientific and political shifts happen infrequently and, when they do, a transiting outer planet mini triangle marks the moment. This is the birth of something new: how appropriate for a full moon in Taurus, the earth mother sign.

Full Moon in Taurus: The Background Noise

The full moon in Taurus is set against a background of powerful changes that will affect us all. At a personal level, it will have the greatest effect on those of you who have planets or points in direct contact with the degree of this lunation. The effects of this full moon are far reaching, so be prepared to deal with the consequences of a radical shift in your value system or sense of self-worth. You may have recently let go of something, or embraced new conditions, but you probably haven’t yet worked out what the outcome will be. That’s fine; it’s more important to accept the situation than worry about what happens next.

Looking again at the full moon in Taurus chart, there are other ‘noises off’ that are astrologically influential. The most significant of these is a t-square that connects the Jupiter – Saturn square with Mercury. Thanks to retrograde motion affecting all three planets, this t-square is going to be effective from now until late December – and it’s purpose is to remind us that we are being tested. The Jupiter – Saturn square is a big reality check moment; it’s a moment of readjustment to assess what works – and what does not. The full moon in Taurus is preparing the ground for what is to come .

This is the opening square of the Jupiter-Saturn cycle that began with the Great Conjunction and everything that is happening now is connected to that. I’ve written extensively about those connections in other posts (see below) but the monumental structural changes that the world is going through are at a critical point in their evolution. The opening Jupiter – Saturn square represents the point where the future is starting to take shape. The full moon in Taurus is showing us what that shape could be.
