Before I started writing the September 2024 horoscope, I reminded myself of this month’s major themes by re-reading the forecast for September 2024 that I wrote for the 2024 Big Horoscope. That was published in December 2023, so what did I predict way back then? The major theme I picked up on was a generational shift; that process (one way or another) reaches a conclusion this month. There is also the first eclipse in the Virgo – Pisces cycle with the lunar eclipse in Pisces on September 18th to look forward to. That will ‘seed’ the Virgo – Pisces themes that are going to unfold between now and early 2027.
Think of boundary issues, common sense, improvements, empathy and working things out: they are going to be held up for inspection – together with every other Virgo – Pisces issue you can think of. And speaking of Virgo, since our schooldays, September has been associated with getting back into work mode; the September 2024 horoscope suggests that’s more true than it’s ever been. September 2024 Horoscope: Aries
If evolution is the theme, how will that manifest for Aries? As the month begins, Pluto retrogrades into Capricorn for the last time – and that signals a final revision to the process of refining and renewing your aims and ambitions is going to take place over the next two months. Hopefully, that will mean you’re finally able to leave behind any obstacles in the way of you moving ahead. This could be a make or break month for your career. The new moon shows you have the right attitude and Mars, your ruler, moving into the gentle sign of Cancer is useful if you’re determined to put down roots – or make a stand.
With Venus in your relationship sector adding to your charm, the signs are that a lot of things will be going your way – as long as you avoid pushing things to the limit. The lunar eclipse in the middle of the month may be helpful as it shows you how – and where – you can be your own worst enemy. This has the potential to be an important and transformational month for you, as long as you operate within certain boundaries. Fortunately, those boundaries may be less restrictive than you anticipated. This month, you’ll feel better making the rules rather than breaking them.
September 2024 Horoscope: Taurus
Prepare for a complete change in your perspective on life. From the beginning of the month Pluto returns to Capricorn for two months and during that time, your understanding of the world will shift dramatically from where it is now. The good news is that this is part of a long process that is nearing completion; the final part of your philosophical realignment is underway – but it may not be easy, as transformation is rarely simple or painless. Hopefully, you will now be at the stage where you understand why there are lessons that have to be learned – come what may.
The lunar eclipse will remind of that in it’s own way: any recent failures may be put aside, as you benefit from a sense of ease that will help you to rebuild your confidence. Mars’s ingress into Cancer will be helpful, as it will give you some much needed mental energy. However, you may have sharp words with someone – and holding back verbally is unlikely with this influence. When Mercury moves out of the retrograde shadow zone in the middle of the month, you’ll find it easier to move life forwards. You are in control of your future – and your dreams..
September 2024 Horoscope: Gemini
There a few things that have not yet been cleared out of your closet and this month you have the chance to finish the job. Pluto returning to Capricorn gives you the determination you need to leave the past behind and complete a process that began long ago. How much is there to deal with? The new moon will be able to help you with that question, as it’s going to encourage you to put down roots or stabilise your life with certain improvements. Venus will make that task seem lighter. You are going to enjoy the creative process this month – in whatever form it takes.
Everything worthwhile involves effort – and your efforts are going to be concentrated in your financial sector. This may be an expensive month for you – and you may be annoyed about some of the bills that you incur. Take action to increase your income, as that would be the best use of your energy. Mars is concerned with your personal security this month – in all senses. When Mercury moves out of the retrograde shadow zone, you’ll find it easer to put plans to improve your security (or home and family situation) into practice. By the second half of the month, you will know what your priorities should be.
September 2024 Horoscope: Cancer
This is a big month for partnerships – and an even bigger month for transforming them. Pluto moving retrograde into Capricorn enables you to consolidate your previous efforts. But first, you need to ensure that all the pieces are in place. Fortunately, you have a lot of drive and energy this month – even if its the nervous type – because Mars is in your sign. Take the lead – even if it doesn’t come naturally to you – because it’s the only way that things are going to be done to your satisfaction. Their may be a few power struggles; don’t expect to get your own way all of the time..
You may be more assertive than usual, but the new moon suggests there is a good reason for that – and that’s because you are better than anyone at seeing what needs to be done. After Mercury leaves the retrograde shadow zone, your organisation skills will be a force to be reckoned with – and if you need to communicate clearly about any subject that interests you, this will be a good time to do so. Venus also suggests that this will be a contented time – particularly where home and family matters are concerned. You are family oriented – and a family party may be well starred this month.
September 2024 Horoscope: Leo
Our lives have a particular shape – and sometimes that shape changes. This month sees a significant change in the way your life is organised. In truth, it’s been a long time coming, but you’re now in the final stages of working out what you want from life at the most profound level. That impacts on everything, as the new moon will remind you early in the month. You have the opportunity to work on your finances, work out what you need – and what you don’t need – and you may discover it’s time to make your resources (of all kinds) work for you. If there is something that’s being wasted, you need to deal with that now.
Fortunately, your mind is going to be working in your favour – and so is your contact list. Conversations will tend to be pleasant ones this month – and some of them will benefit you materially. That’s fortunate, as you may have to keep track of your spending, as there is the risk you could overspend or purchase a lot of small things. They add up. Spending as a means of easing inner tension is a risk this month, but it should be easier to control when Mercury moves out of the retrograde shadow. And what of the lunar eclipse? Everything changes. And I mean, everything. Sometimes evolution feels like revolution.
September 2024 Horoscope: Virgo
How you express yourself, the things you find pleasurable; all of that has changed radically in recent years. You will be reminded just how far you have come when Pluto retrogrades into Capricorn; it gives you insight into how life used to be – and over the next two months, you’ll know exactly what it is that you’ve left behind. And why. Meanwhile, the new moon adds to your personal journey, as it seeds a new version of you -and radically changes the way you see yourself. You’ll start to get your head around that when Mercury leaves the retrograde shadow period mid-month, as your mental energy receives a welcome boost.
September also sees a boost in your social life; action is the buzzword – and you may be more physically active than usual, or fired up by social causes you feel passionate about. This could be your moment to become a team leader – especially in a work context. This could benefit you financially; hard work and teamwork could generate a bonus for some of you – and there are signs that this could be a financially positive month. It’s also a good time to work on your value system. Knowing what you’re worth – in all senses – may be beneficial at this time. And don’t ignore your relationships – the lunar eclipse may remind you how important they are.

The new moon comes early in the month – and it’s an uneasy one for you. You may have the feeling that you need to tie up some loose ends. It may be an unnerving new moon, as you won’t know what to feel about a whole range of things. Fortunately, Mercury leaves the retrograde shadow on September 12th; that should help you to gain insight into your feelings – and the truth about some of the things you sensed were ‘not right’. Home and family matters move to a different level; they have been in a process of transformation for a while, but you may feel as if things take a backward – yet necessary – step this month.
Perhaps it’s to remind you that life needs to move on. Use the next two months to reconstruct a secure base for yourself, as it will help you to withstand the changes headed your way. Fortunately, most of the month sees you present a happy front to the world; you’re busy at work – and life – and your energy levels are high. That’s going to prove useful as the lunar eclipse signals a change in the way your working life is organised – it needs to evolve – and if things need improvement then that’s what you will have to do. Efficiency and hard work may help you to obtain the best results.
September 2024 Horoscope: Scorpio
The new moon, Pluto retrograde and the Mars ingress into Cancer: they all occur in the first week of September. That’s a lot to deal with, so let’s begin with your ruler – Pluto. Pluto is transforming your mind – and has been doing so for a while. Transformation takes time, but you’re now at the stage where you can begin to see why this has been so important. Events over the next couple of months are going to remind you of that, so building mental resilience is going to be important for you. The new moon also suggests you need to look at your allegiances; where do you fit? What’s your tribe?
The answers may come when Mercury moves out of the shadows mid-month. And then there’s Mars. That energy is going to make you travel – maybe literally so – but you’re doing so to find comfort. That’s something you feel compelled to do, as you have a subconscious desire to be nurtured; the question you may need to ask yourself, is why do you feel so uncomfortable closer to home? The lunar eclipse may help you to answer that – where personal expression, enjoyment, fulfilment and creativity are concerned, you need to aligns things more closely with who you are. Stop pleasing everyone else – and be true to yourself.
September 2024 Horoscope: Sagittarius
You have been in the process of restructuring your life for some time and, this month, you need to review how far that has taken you. The object of the exercise is to enable you to live according to your inner values – but that may take a toll on you in a material sense. How much are you prepared to lose in order to live by your principles? If you discover that the price is too high, you may have to work out how to feel comfortable in your own skin and be comfortable in the real world. That will be your challenge over the next two months.
Big deals aside, the new moon shows there a things stirring in your career sector. This could be a new position or promotion, or a complete change of course; when Mercury moves out of the retrograde shadow zone, you will know more about how this is going to unfold. Mars moving into Cancer is also a red flag for change and Mars gives you the energy and momentum you need to make some profound changes. This is a no turning back moment. Meanwhile, enjoy what is going to be a positive and sociable month: your view of the future is a good one. And the lunar eclipse? New roots, a new base or a new home is coming your way…

Pluto has been remodelling your view of yourself and you are now in the final phase of that project. And what a project it has been. You may not recognise yourself as the person you were just a few years ago, but this month, you will be reminded of your former identity. A blast from the past will bring this to your attention. Office romance is often associated with this position, but make sure you’re not breaking any company rules – especially as Mars is moving into your relationship sector. The lunar eclipse is going to bring some important news: it may change the way you think about a certain person or situation.
September 2024 Horoscope: Aquarius
You are going to need to reflect on a few things this month, as Pluto moving back into Capricorn gives you the chance to clear out the emotional and psychological garbage that you’ve been holding inside for too long. It may not be an easy process, as events over the next two months may confront you with some feelings you would prefer not to have to deal with – but deal with them you must. The new moon signals that it’s time for radical change – and when Mercury moves out of the retrograde shadow zone, you will discover what change means for you – and there’s no going back.
When Mars moves into Cancer, your energy will be focused on making things work better than they were working before. That dynamic is going to manifest in many areas of your life, but it’s most likely to affect your daily routines, your job and your health and wellbeing. Usually they are connected – and we suffer if those connections aren’t working as well as they should. Fortunately, your energy is fuelled by happiness and optimism. You have a positive outlook this month – and positivity tends to attract good things to good people. The lunar eclipse in your money sector may reinforce that feeling.
September 2024 Horoscope: Pisces
This month, you’re reminded of some old allegiances, as Pluto makes it’s final adjustments to your friends and social life. It’s time for revelation – and you may be stunned by way some of your friends are behaving this month. It’s also a time when you may learn who your true friends are. It’s better to know what’s really going on than remain in ignorance – even if the truth hurts. That way you can rebuild your social circle in a way that aligns with your hopes for the future. The new moon confirms it’s time to make new alliances – and when Mercury moves out of the shadows, you will be able to work out who with – and how.
Mars ingress into Cancer will energise your house of fun and romance; putting your energy into having a good time may help you to bring about the lasting changes you need, especially as Venus is positioned in the sector associated with leaving the past behind. Whatever you were doing in your close relationships needs to be reassessed – especially if old unproductive patterns of relating are being repeated time and again. The lunar eclipse is going to tell you that you need to change your approach; perhaps being your authentic self is the only thing you need to do.
