The Big 2024 Horoscope: Introduction
The Big 2024 Horoscope has landed! This is the time of year to sit down with a mug of coffee (or whatever your preferred poison may be) and discover what next year has in store. Unlike the monthly horoscopes that many of you subscribe to, the annual forecast takes a different approach to horoscope forecasting.
I use this annual horoscope to set out the major themes that are going to emerge during the next twelve months. They will be themes (and potential events) that make headline news, but they will also be themes that affect your lives in a more personal or direct manner.
The Universe is telling us that this is going to be a year of significant and lasting change – and it starts in January when the ‘Pluto in Aquarius’ trailer is going to be previewing globally. That sets the scene for this year – and beyond – so events that take place in 2024 will have a significance that goes beyond any immediate or surface impact that they may have during the year.
However, it’s not the only major celestial event in town. The year begins with the Jupiter-Saturn cycle reaching a landmark stage with a transiting sextile aspect – and a further stage in that cycle will be reached as the year ends.
The other notable event is the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction in late April that marks the new Jupiter-Uranus cycle that will unfold over the next fourteen years. Again, it symbolises a turning point, a moment of renewal and breakthrough and a sudden change of direction from where the world seemed to have been headed. Those two planets bring moral and philosophical concerns into the social and political realm. In Taurus, the focus is on sustainability – and that’s likely to apply to the material world, both financially and environmentally.
Several other influential contacts between the outer planets also occur during the year; Mars will be stirring a pot of trouble and there will be the usual collection of retrogrades and eclipses to deal with along the way. It’s a year when many things will be set in motion – and bear in mind, the significant shifts taking place in 2024 will continue on 2025 when Uranus and Neptune also change signs.
You had better get used to the idea that things are going to be different – whether that’s in a good way, or a bad way, only time and the Gods will tell…
2024 Horoscope: January
There is an ominous calm as the new year begins. The heavens are quiet; Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius turns direct on January 3rd, so use this time to get comfortable and recover from the excesses of the festive season. This may be a welcome breathing space, a time to recover and plan for the future – or it may be the calm before the storm. By the second week of January, Mars announces the first of this years major alignments: the approaching Jupiter – Saturn sextile that dominates the skies early in the year.
The Jupiter – Saturn sextile is the first base in the Jupiter – Saturn cycle that began with ‘The Great Conjunction‘ of 2020/2021. This is the first important staging post in that cycle – and it’s like taking the lid off the box and seeing what’s inside. If it feels familiar, that’s because the contents of the box started rattling around during the summer of 2023. Jupiter in Taurus turned retrograde and that had an impact on the material world. As it turned retrograde it made its first sextile aspect to Saturn in Pisces – and Saturn here tests the limits. This month there is an ongoing stress test of the material world as it exists right now.
So, what are the major themes going to be? Economic and environmental issues are prominent, largely because they are connected. In the 2024 horoscope, Jupiter is in forward motion, as is Mercury in Sagittarius. All eyes are on the ‘big picture’. And the big theme is this: the Jupiter – Saturn sextile offers the potential to look at ways of creating new structures – and a new world order. Optimism combines with reality to prompt us all to consider how we can move forward in a constructive way.
The debate will focus on what is meant by ‘constructive’. In your personal life, you may feel it’s time to define how you’re going to manage your expectations, be realistic about your opportunities or overcome certain limitations. Make the most of what you have and do as much as you can in the circumstances. A sextile signifies a moment of realisation: significant material or physical concerns (Jupiter in Taurus) can no longer be ignored (Saturn in Pisces). It’s a real ‘join the dots’ aspect, where causes and effects come together.
You will notice those themes time and again this month – especially when Pluto makes its ingress in to Aquarius on January 22nd. This is a sensitive moment, as Pluto sits on the degree of ‘The Great Conjunction‘. Events around this time may be shocking, powerful and revolutionary. Pluto represents abuse of power, crime, fanaticism and extremes; Aquarius represents idealism, populism, radicalism, freedom, libertarianism and revolution. Extreme ideology, extreme beliefs or the ‘will of the people’? Make a choice while you can…
Pluto in Aquarius is a volcanic and volatile combination. Pluto also represents, deep insight, rebirth, untapped resources and doing what it takes to survive. In Aquarius those impulses are expressed intellectually, progressively, politically or scientifically. Expect groups of all kinds to do what it takes to further their aims.Pluto’s deep transformational energy may be used for humanitarian purposes, or it may emerge in areas of transformative technological innovations.
This is how it begins; watch out for the Mars – Uranus trine towards the end of January. They are trigger planets and a trine in predictive astrology signifies events that happen at speed or are already underway. An extended process of transformation will be apparent by the end of January. Be prepared for the race to be chaotic; that’s also going to be a feature of Pluto in Uranus’s sign. Will we experience transformational chaos, or chaotic transformation? Both outcomes are possible.
2024 Horoscope: February
The Jupiter – Saturn sextile continues to dominate this month and there are additional themes I want to talk about – let’s try expansion (Jupiter) of authority (Saturn), or excessive greed (Jupiter in Taurus) and lack of restraint (Saturn in Pisces). Jupiter and Saturn are the social planets. They influence the ‘shape’ of our societies for the duration of each Jupiter – Saturn cycle.Events and issues symbolised by the Jupiter – Saturn sextile are going to be notable early in 2024, and they occur against a backdrop (Pluto in Aquarius) that suggests radical change or realignment is required.
The 2024 horoscope points towards increasing authoritarianism becoming a major issue, so I’ll remind you of this: most dictators are elected. That, of course, is simply one manifestation of the Jupiter – Saturn sextile. There’s also that connection between ‘following the money’ and attempts by those in authority (or the authorities) to ‘cover the tracks’. Expect major allegations (especially concerning financial impropriety), big denials, increased security, growing concerns, overwhelmed boundaries and extensions of border controls becoming a big issue. Increased powers of law enforcement may feature at this time.
With Pluto making its presence felt in Aquarius, events will challenge or subvert convention. That may include conventions of sexuality and gender, but there may be challenges to the forces of money and power – and gender and power. What marks February out in this respect, is the coming together of Venus and Mars in Aquarius. This occurs close to Pluto, so it may indicate the emergence of a female leader – or a unifying force – that shakes up a few pre-existing assumptions about where the power base is located.
In Aquarius, the way we approach ‘war and peace’ is not going to work as expected. When Mars enters Aquarius, it activates the degree of the Great Conjunction and makes a transiting conjunction with Pluto. Mars is the trigger planet; whatever is triggered this month will have a direct relationship to events that took place in late 2020/early 2021 – and watch out for repercussions later this year when Mars and Pluto ‘face off’ in opposition.
Mars conjunct Pluto is never an easy combination – particularly when the point of contact is as loaded with significance as it is this month. A ‘lust for power‘ (or events that symbolise that dynamic) will be evident around the middle of the month. Appropriately enough, this conjunction becomes exact on St Valentines Day. That day is associated with romance (with extra lust and passion this year), but there is the potential for extreme (Pluto) violence (Mars). I’m not suggesting there will be a modern (or symbolic) version of the ‘St Valentine’s Day Massacre‘, but – astrologically speaking – the possibility is there.
2024 Horoscope: March
After an explosive February, the 2024 horoscope for March contains significant new beginnings. The lunar eclipse in Libra brings to a head a need for dialogue, negotiation, exchange, peace and accord – though it has yet to consolidate, so don’t expect anything to happen immediately. However, this is a month of surprises; both Mars and Venus make a dynamic aspect to Uranus in Taurus, so there’s a real push towards seeking radical new ways of reaching agreement – and new agreements or alliances may solidify suddenly or unexpectedly.
New approaches dominate the month. At a personal level, you may experience surprising shifts in your friendship groups or social involvements (Uranus and Aquarius are associated with such matters). In the wider world, there may be some surprising new alliances; friends become enemies – and vice versa. Towards the end of the month, expect new formations to take shape. It may seem a quiet month, but it’s one where sides are being chosen, so the team may be announced – and the new line-up is presented to the world.
That seems the most likely outcome, as the end of this month sees a lunar Eclipse in Libra – the collaborative sign. Let’s focus on Libra and look at the issues that may becoming to a head right now: it’s the sign of diplomacy and resolution, and it’s also the sign of lawyers, legal advocacy, legal contracts and cases brought before a judge and jury. It’s time to start negotiation or mediation.
2024 Horoscope: April
Solar eclipses follow lunar eclipses like night follows day. What goes around, comes around, so there is a cyclical feeling to the April 2024 horoscope – and a few indications that it could be a groundbreaking month. It’s astrologically hyperactive, with a total solar eclipse in Aries, Mercury retrograde (also in Aries) and, as the month, closes, the Jupiter – Uranus conjunction signals a new round of the cosmic cycle. It’s fiery and volatile.
I’ll begin with Mercury retrograde in Aries as this occurs at the beginning of the month. Mercury retrograde signifies thinking again about some important issue, revisiting something you said (perhaps in haste or anger) or being triggered by something that causes you to react impulsively – and then regretting it. At a personal level, there will be noticeable effects on those of you who have planets or points directly affected by the retrograde, but at a less personal level, that dynamic is going to play out on a bigger stage.
What can we expect? Here are a few ideas to consider: revisiting old conflicts or arguments; having to backtrack on rushed decisions; making announcements that cause anger – then reversing them; revisiting ‘the blame game’; frustrated efforts and more than a few ‘told you so’ moments. Whether in private or public, there is scope for some form of embarrassment – or having to face up to something that makes you mad just thinking about it.
Mars in Pisces does not help the situation – it’s a delusional and deceptive influence. In April 2024, it races through this sign and makes some critical contacts on the way. Mars conjunct Saturn emphasises a degree of frustration and facing up to difficulties; Mars conjunct Neptune signifies deception – and anger about deception. Then we come to the solar eclipse in Aries that occurs on April 8th 2024; Mars rules Aries so the eclipse’s energy finds it way out through Mars. This eclipse is a total solar eclipse – in astrological terms, it’s the most powerful eclipse there can be.
What this signals it that we really have reached the end of of the line. The total eclipse marks a time to move on – brutally so given the nature of Aries. There is a lot of Mars and Aries-type energy around this month – much of it suppressed. Prepare for the following occurrences: rapid conclusions; things coming to a head; a head of steam; sound and fury; moving at speed; recriminations and infighting; a metaphorical car crash – and a few things that hit the buffers or sink without trace. It is a time of significant endings – and equally significant beginnings.
Where some things end, others begin. That is where we find ourselves at the end of April. The Jupiter and Uranus conjunction becomes exact in Taurus, marking the closure of one 14 year cycle and the beginning of another. It’s a significant moment in the 2024 horoscope; Jupiter – Uranus conjunctions mark innovative and revolutionary moments in all senses; politically, culturally, technologically and scientifically, The world moves on – will 2024 offer such a moment? The indications are that it will, but revolutions and innovations come in many forms, so be prepared for a few surprises around this time.
2024 Horoscope: May
So far, it’s been a year of shocks, surprises and moves towards uncharted territory. The 2024 horoscope for May sees the following themes unfold: Jupiter in Taurus makes a sextile aspect to Neptune in Pisces and that has the potential to increase uncertainty. This can be an optimistic and idealistic aspect – and I suspect there will be events or declarations that promise ‘hope for the future’ – a slogan that has Jupiter and Neptune written all over it. It’s something you may hear a lot during this month.
Neptune is in late Pisces, on the anaretic degree. Neptune’s transit thorough Pisces has been incredible; it’s been challenging, destabilising and destructive – particularly where truth and lies are concerned. I’ve written about it extensively (and you can read more using the links below), but this Jupiter – Neptune sextile has the potential to either (i) increase the gaslighting issues we have experienced over recent years, or (ii) educate us about their impact. I suspect both of these trends will manifest this month.
Whatever happens, it’s a month focused on beliefs and belief systems. What we also see is a sextile alignment of Mars in Aries with Pluto in Aquarius. That’a a passionate, aggressive and powerful combination. Mars in Aries is a fighter and – with Pluto in revolutionary Aquarius – we can expect a hotly contested battle this month. It’s a fight to the end – because the object is to bring about a transformational situation. And that, by definition, involves the obliteration of the opposition. While it is potentially violent – it also has the potential to harness energy in a constructive way.
The sextile is an aspect of consensus – even with planets like Mars and Pluto. They are planets I associate with the phrase ‘might makes right’, but in a sextile aspect, it’s a dynamic that invites support and wider agreement to make it work. Mars’s passion and courage boosts Pluto’s transformational potential in a positive or evolutionary sense, but there is also potential for the forces of vengeance to be unleashed. Again, I think we will witness events and situations where both of those possibilities play out in tandem.
It’s a month with a financial impact. Whether it’s the cash in your pocket, or the wider economy, be prepared for surprises. Venus aspects both Saturn and Uranus, so financial reality may invite a radical rethink of how you handle your assets – and the same may be said for whoever is in control of your country’s economy. As ever, those things are connected: if the economy is boosted (or tanks), you have to adjust your spending in accordance with that. Things will be different by the end of May – Jupiter moves into Gemini, so we will learn exactly what our options are – it’s about communicating the big picture.
2024 Horoscope: June
The Jupiter in Gemini shift is a significant moment in the 2024 horoscope. We are going to be extremely curious about how we arrived at where we are now. It’s an investigative transit: there is a lot to take on board and it may be hard to focus due to information overload. There may be an emphasis on new ideas and forward thinking. There are some big ideas and strategic overview – but we are not at the detailed thinking stage: Gemini is a melting pot, so there may be a lot of discussion – but little else.
What is certain, is that we.have shifted from an earth focus, to an air focus. We need ideas, we need solutions and we need innovation. Jupiter in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius, so we are having to deal with some truly difficult, transformational and big issues. This is month of powerful influences – and influencers. The power of unaccountable ‘influencers’ may be called into question. We may experience a radical shift in our understanding of how the world works. And be prepared for some major discussions or developments in artificial intelligence – AI.
Jupiter in Gemini is a big communicator and Pluto in Aquarius is revolutionary, so the potential for an emerging ‘revolutionary preacher’, a revolutionary message, or revolutionary belief systems is huge. The trine suggests that this will happen quickly – because it’s already in place. Mars is also square Pluto; if something kicks off this month, it won’t be a surprise. This aspect represents a similar lust for power dynamic we saw earlier in the year – but the square aspect is a tense and active one. It’s about exercising power and control – especially control of the narrative. And that’s where AI comes into play…
Control the story and you control events. For many of us, June 2024 may challenged us to get our collective heads around what we are hearing or seeing on a daily basis. So, what’s the message? Venus and Mars enjoy a sextile connection this month, so there is the potential to agree on mutually beneficial courses of action. When all around you is in turmoil – as it may be for much of this year – it’s good to find there is still some common ground. At the end of the month, practicality and sensitivity go hand in hand – and that may be more important than ever…
2024 Horoscope: July
July is going to be a hot month in more ways than one. There is a surge of Mars energy and, as Mars is in Taurus for much of the month, it’s a sustained energy. There are flashpoints – particularly when Mars and Uranus join forces. They trigger something significant. The conjunction occurs in Taurus, so its effects will be material: whether it’s a situation in the natural world, or a matter affecting the financial world – or even a matter affecting the arts and cultural sector – that is something we will discover in due course.
Mars makes aspects with all of the outer planets – and Saturn – this month, so there is also a real sense of pushing ahead in several areas. When we look back at this year, we will realise that this moment saw the creation of a new ‘zeitgeist’ – the spirit of the age. Periods in history are often defined by a particular mood or spirit, something that captures the public mood or imagination. There will be a definitive moment when that spirit emerges – and that moment could be July 2024.
Such things rarely emerge from nowhere, but with Neptune sextile Pluto, astrologically, the suggestion is that the time is right. It’s going to be a real evolutionary moment, as we transition from one way of looking at the world, to another way of doing so. Because Neptune and Pluto are generational planets, there is also the suggestion of handing over the reins of power from one generation to another. Again, I’m going to refer to that Mars – Uranus trigger: if there is a shift in the power balance, it may be fast and/or unexpected.
2024 Horoscope: August
If July 2024 was a significant moment, August throws up more things to think about. But first, let’s recap: Pluto in Aquarius has been exposing major issues in the systems that govern our lives – and it’s threatening to demolish the existing framework. Jupiter in Gemini is making a lot of noise and Mars is triggering fights with whoever gets in the way. We are at the beginning of a new and revolutionary Jupiter – Uranus cycle – and hitting some critical points in the Jupiter – Saturn cycle that began in Aquarius in 2020/21. How much more revolution can we take?
If this year has left you (and me) breathless, then take a break – if you can. Pluto rolls back into Capricorn, but that’s not going to provide much respite. Pluto’s final visit to Saturn’s sign will provide us with a reminder of the things that we need to leave behind us. We also meet another stage in the Jupiter – Saturn cycle – a square that marks a moment of creative tension. What (or who) should stay and what (or who) should go? It’s a dynamic that’s likely to affect us all – one way or another.
The square aspect demands action and, as Jupiter and Saturn represent the forces of expansion and limitation, the best outcome is likely to be an outbreak of cautious optimism or planned growth. What we are going to need is a good judgement call. Situations that demand good judgement may be in evidence around now and, for some of you, this may arise in a personal capacity. It may be difficult to find the right balance between freedom and responsibility.
What you want to do and what you have to do may be two different things. It’s a dynamic that will play out throughout August – and it will make it difficult for some people to recognise their limitations. Navigating through obstacles and difficulties will be a theme that is prominent during August: it’s a moment of challenge that may (or may not) be handled well. Look out for the youth vs. age, or the experience vs. inexperience dynamic to play out around this time.
Mercury in Virgo turns retrograde and regresses to Leo before resuming direct motion. Virgo is patient and responsible and Mercury retrograde is going to prompt a re-examination of plans and proposals. This may involve matters of health and vitality (both physical and mental) and, as Mercury retrogrades back into Leo, this could be a matter that involves heads of state or other prominent people: for example, a health matter may necessitate a change of plan.
At a personal level issues requiring planning and organisation may have to be reconsidered. Working out how reinvigorate or revitalise your life could be an issue in August. I know we hope that we’re through the pandemic, but there is also the risk that Covid – or some other kind of limitation – could resurface around now – and it could affect the way you plan your vacation time and holidays this summer – especially with the Jupiter – Saturn square prominent in this month’s forecast too.
Finally, the 2024 horoscope for July sees a Venus – Mars square in the mutable signs, Gemini and Virgo. Mars in Gemini is verbally confrontational. It shows a need for quick thinking and rapid responsive thought processes. There’s a lot of shouting this month, and things may be said in haste. So, we have a conflict between parties who shout loud and speak without thinking things through – and others who value (Venus) considered responses, due process and doing things the way they should be done (Virgo). It’s tension all the way this month and it’s going to require a few good calls to reach any form of agreement.
2024 Horoscope: September
If August’s forecast is anything to go by, the 2024 horoscope for September has a big act to follow. It’s a month that sees another ‘first’: the first eclipse in the Virgo-Pisces eclipse cycle. Let’s begin, however, with the Neptune – Pluto sextile that’s been providing the background noise since July. It marks the late summer of 2024 as an evolutionary moment, the moment where we leave behind one way of thinking and enter the spirit of a new age. Changes in beliefs, attitudes, culture, governance, systems – everything – is affected by this aspect – and it’s happening in 2024.
The Neptune – Pluto sextile is concerned with mass consciousness and generational shifts – as one generation lets go and another takes over. September 2024 brings that process to its conclusion; new beginnings are made. The lunar eclipse in Pisces marks the moment – and that first eclipse in Pisces is a notable one. It focuses on faith and belief systems – and what we believe or understand may be a hot topic in September 2024. The involvement of Neptune is partly to blame.
As we know, Neptune in Pisces has been obscuring facts and defying logic during its long transit in its own sign. This is a long term influence that has made us look at many things in a different light. However, when Mars in Gemini Squares Neptune as the month begins, That is going to bring matters of fact – or the distortion of facts – to our attention. Scandals, suspicions, deceptions, lies, allegations, claims and counter-claims are likely to feature at this time.
This also accords with the symbolism of the lunar eclipse in Pisces; things that are hidden and obscured now are likely to be uncovered when the solar eclipse in Pisces (in 2025) focuses attention on matters that have been concealed. It’s also time to begin some essential or long overdue work. It’s a good month for construction – in a broad sense. It’s a time to start building something – a major project, a new system, a legal case. If you want to start something – do it now. Beginning something long-term is well starred this month.
2024 Horoscope: October
The 2024 horoscope for October sees the last solar eclipse of the Libra – Aries cycle. It represents the next point of departure from the events that took place around the lunar eclipse in March. There was an emphasis on the law, diplomacy, negotiation and debate – and this is the time to put new agreements in place. It marks the transition from one phase to another – a theme that has been evident for the whole of 2024. This is a month for tying up loose ends, re-calibrating and getting life back on an even keel.
There is a feeling of some form of closure or re-set, as Pluto completes its final retrograde motion in Capricorn. Once Pluto starts moving forwards in mid October, there is the sense of something inevitable approaching. The past is going to be left behind before you know it and – ready or not – the future is waiting. Don’t say you weren’t warned because, no matter how much advance warning you have, it’s still going to come as a surprise – especially if you’re a billionaire. We are going to see closure on peak capitalism.
Mars in Cancer makes a sextile aspect to Uranus in Taurus this month, and that’s an excitable combination. Mars represents action and Uranus symbolises radical change, so the opportunity to make innovative changes in the way we nurture or look after natural resources is a possibility. Cancer and Taurus also represent food and being fed, so will we see innovations in food production or on agriculture? That’s also a possibility. Less positively, there’s the prospect of someone becoming defensive about greed and hoarding – inequalities affecting ownership and distribution may be issues this month.
This month also sees a trine aspect between Mars and Neptune. It’s an idealistic combination – and it’s one that’s traditionally associated with ‘fighting for the underdog’. With Mars in Cancer, fighting for those in need is a possibility – but so is fighting for your home and homeland. The idealistic Mars – Neptune suggests there could be a struggle based on ideals and principles. Escalation could be rapid. It’s a highly charged and emotional month – and the solar eclipse in Libra emphasises the need to choose a side, as much as it points towards a need for reconciliation.

2024 Horoscope: November
The 2024 horoscope is significant because of the power of the moment – and there are several of them. November is one of the most important months in an important year; Pluto re-enters Aquarius – and this time it’s permanent (until 2044). When the outer planets transit, ingress into a new sign is a powerful moment – we are officially done with the era of Pluto in Capricorn. It marks a real shift in the power dynamic that has dominated world events since 2008 – the time of the great financial crash that aligned completely with the meaning of Pluto in Capricorn.
Since 2008, we have seen an dramatic surge in the extent, power and wealth of the super rich and billionaire class – the ‘Plutocrats’, That is over. It’s official – but what is going to take its place? If you were thinking of throwing a party to celebrate – think again. Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius is not going to make for an easy time – and currently I feel things could go one of two ways.
Either, Pluto in Aquarius (literally the power of the collective) reclaims power for the people through democratic means and there is a redistribution of wealth – an outcome that accords totally with the meaning of Pluto in Aquarius). Or ‘people power’ becomes ‘populism’ – and that’s something else entirely. Populism is usually orchestrated or funded by billionaires (or those who seek total power and control) and the usual mechanism is to convince the voting populace that they are acting in the interests of ‘the people’. You may hear a lot about ‘the will of the people’ in November 2024 – and you will also hear about the importance of democracy.
Either way, Pluto is an indicator of extremes and, in revolutionary Aquarius, it suggests the beginning of Pluto’s transit through this sign is not going to be an easy one. As Pluto enters Aquarius it activates the point of the Great Conjunction. If the Jupiter – Saturn cycle that began in 2021 marked the beginning of a new structural cycle, Pluto passing over that point is the demolition squad that blows the old structure apart. Mars (in opposition to Pluto) presses the red button; the opposition is exact on the anaretic degree (29˚) in Cancer – Capricorn, just before the Mars changes signs on November 5th.
Take cover; the fall out will be huge. And it’s not going away any time soon. This month sees Mars slowing up as it prepares to turn retrograde, so the Mars – Pluto opposition is going to remain in orb until early 2025 when Mars drops back into Cancer from Leo. (Incidentally, that means we will experience Mars opposite Pluto in 2025 too – but that is for another time). Mars retrograde in Leo/Cancer is, however going to be a major influence on events from late 2024 into 2025 – and it’s going to be asking questions about who is King. Or Queen.
A volatile month ends with another retrograde, Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is the freedom loving sign, but Mercury retrograde may make us look again at what is meant by that. Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius is reckless, but it also represents wisdom and learning. When Mercury is retrograde, it often expresses ‘Virgo-style’ as it becomes more focused and analytical. I associate Sagittarius with questions; as November draws to a close, a lot of people are going to be asking, ‘What the heck just happened?’ You may be one of those people.
2024 Horoscope: December
So, here we are. 2024 is nearly over and done with, but – in truth – 2024 will not be done with us for some time. The 2024 horoscope ends the year looking for answers, as Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius will conduct a post mortem (or autopsy) on the years events. There are conclusions to be drawn, theories to explore and self-examination is almost inevitable. For those of you whose charts are sensitised to this influence, it’s a dynamic that could impact on you at a deeply personal level.
All of this comes together in the second week of December, as Mercury turns retrograde and makes a sextile aspect to Venus and Mars in Aquarius. Venus aligns with both Pluto and Mars around this time and this show there is a passionate zeal to expand and explore the possibilities of the new world in which we find ourselves at the end of 2024. However, it’s not all peace and love; a Venus – Mars conjunction can signify discord as well as harmony. Values may be asserted rather than shared and there is often an element of competition.
Pluto in this combination can be overpowering, dominant, intense, extreme and compelling; vengeance, jealousy and rash words and behaviour are as likely as the more positive potential, that of bringing together warring factions, seeking diplomatic solutions and rising above pettiness to focus on a bigger and better picture. The tension in that scenario is reflected in the stage we are at in the Jupiter – Saturn cycle; in August, Jupiter and Saturn made their first square aspect. With Jupiter retrograde in Gemini this month, the square aspect is revisited; tension between freedom and limitation is with us once again.
What does that mean in practice? This month, there may be issues concerning freedom of speech, of physical freedom, or freedom and incarceration. With Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius, such things may be the subject of debate, or legal opinion. Whatever the debate or argument may be, it’s one that’s going to roll over into 2025. And 2025 will be another year of momentous change…
The Big 2024 Horoscope: Conclusion
The 2024 horoscope shows that the coming year is going to be one to remember. It’s when the changes and shifts that have been promised for so long, become real – though the reality of those changes is likely to be hotly contested. Regardless of that, the direction of travel is only going to go one way – and it’s away from the situation we find ourselves in here at the end of 2023. A new era is about to be locked in place – but remember: it’s an evolutionary process. How we begin in 2024 is not necessarily how things will end.
Though it’s going to seem a chaotic, relentless and unnerving kind of a year – take heart: transitions into another state are never easy. Sometimes you have to roll with it – and sometimes you feel powerless given the magnitude of the events unfolding around you. I suspect we will all feel like that at various points during this year. It’s going to be a rousing, emotional, roller-coaster ride – hold on and hope for the best. Sometimes, that’s all you can do. Happy Christmas everyone – and I hope we are still around for the next big horoscope in 2025….
