The USA Election 2024 is now a heartbeat away. This has been a campaign like no other: the oldest candidates, a change of candidate, rallies, gunshots, deaths, mudslinging and madness. On November 5th, the US electorate will cast its vote and sometime early in 2025 they will have a new president, POTUS 47. It will be either Donald Trump (POTUS 45) or Kamala Harris, the current VP. And, like every other astrologer, I’ve been looking at whose chart has the most positive indication for the election period.
Over the past year or so, I’ve cast solar return charts for all three candidates (yes, you read that right) starting with Joe Biden in November 2023, Donald Trump in June 2024 and, most recently, Kamala Harris in October 2024. Solar returns set out the themes that will dominate your year ahead – and back in 2023, I noted that Joe Biden’s chart contained a sudden change of direction at the top of his chart – and we know what happened next. In this post, I’m going to revisit my solar return forecasts for Trump and Harris – and try to answer the question of who will win.
USA Election 2024: The Astrology
First, I need to set the scene – astrologically – to give you with the background to USA Election 2024. The USA experienced its Pluto return back in 2022 – 2023 and that turbulence has been making the flight a rocky one throughout 2024. In general astrological terms, the world is seeing a significant shift, with Pluto changing signs into Aquarius shortly after the US election. This process has been ongoing for some time, as Pluto has been transiting back and forth across the cusp of those two signs since March 2023. This is a transitional moment, the power of which can’t be underestimated.
To make that point, I’m going to tell you a story. Yesterday I was ‘doomscrolling’ through my social media feeds. I’m not an American, but my media feeds were full of Tik Tok videos uploaded by ordinary American citizens who were concerned with getting the vote out for the USA Election 2024. Many of those posts were heartfelt and deeply emotional. One in particular caught my eye so I watched it. The man who spoke was a former pastor and his comments on what was happening in the US struck me forcibly. What he said was this:
“Something is dying and something is being born.”
I don’t imagine a former Christian pastor is familiar with the workings of astrology, but his words described with pinpoint accuracy the process of Plutonic transformation that is not only taking place in the US, but globally. My view is that the USA Election 2024 may be a focus of this transformation (with a recent and still active Pluto return and the Great American Eclipse this year), but what the former pastor said next was also one of the best descriptions of Pluto I have heard. He recalled discussing the situation with a friend who made the following observation:
” We are in a transitional moment, moving from the darkness of the tomb, to the darkness of the womb”.
That process, from the darkness of the tomb to the darkness of the womb, is Pluto in action. It’s how Pluto works. Death is painful, and so is birth. Nothing that will happen is going to be pain-free; that’s the nature of Pluto’s transformational power. The process is often agonizing, it’s not without risk and it’s not without danger. Pluto is resonating powerfully in our lives right now, and it’s telling us that the USA Election 2024 is a moment of Plutonic transformation for America. It’s not going to be painless, and whatever the result, there will be no going back.
That’s just some of the background astrology, so what does each candidate’s solar return chart say about their prospects of success in this contest? I’ve already prepared detailed reports for both of them (the links are set out below), so in this post I’m going to pull out the major points suggested by their solar returns and compare them, and I’m going to start with Donald Trump.
USA Election 2024 Astrology: Donald Trump
So, what did Donald Trump’s solar return chart tell us about his chances in the USA Election 2024? There was a lot to unpick (and my original report has the full analysis) but the main points are set out below:
- Sun in SR 12th house: this is not the best placement for the Sun as it signifies ‘death of the ego’, the end of a cycle and time to move on. Note – Trump also had Sun in SR 12th house in 2020.
- Neptune in 10th SR house, squared by the Sun: this shows public confusion and illusion or delusion in the context of career, public status and life direction. Neptune in this house undermines executive authority.
- Sun – Moon – Saturn t-square: the Sun (12th) is at the apex with the Moon and Saturn opposed along the ‘Axis of Experience’, (MC-IC axis). T-squares are also known as the ‘achievement triangles’ and the apex planet of this triangle (Sun, 12th) suggests disappointment.
- Saturn conjunction Midheaven (MC): this marks a karmic moment. For older people it can signal retirement, or reducing working hours. Saturn here brings together old age and public image. Trump may be seen as representing the past.
- Pluto (8th) trine Jupiter (12th): Pluto shows a moment of intense transformation and it’s trine Jupiter (12th). This year is a major turning point, but Jupiter has a protective influence; things could be worse. Law and ethics may be used and/or abused with Jupiter here.
- Pluto (8th) trine Mars (11th): this is a tense and violent aspect; we have seen it through the campaign (the assassination attempt) and it will remain in force throughout the time period of the USA Election 2024.
- Solar Return Ascendant in Cancer: This indicates Trump’s approach to the year is emotionally based and defensive.
There are no surprises in Donald Trump’s solar return for 2024. As it specifically relates to the USA Election 2024, it’s not overwhelmingly positive about his chances. The Sun is in a weak position, in a fading, cadent house, and Neptune (10th) suggests uncertainty (or creating uncertainty) about the election result. Saturn conjunct the Midheaven shows Trump may try to control the agenda following the result of the USA Election 2024.
Any route to success may be limited and/or need hard work and legal challenges – particularly with Saturn conjunct the Midheaven – and there may be attempts to delay the result. Does this sound like a repeat of the 2020 election? That seems the most likely outcome looking at his chart. The Pluto – Mars square aspect and emotional tenor of the chart may bring about a repeat of the emotionalism and mass action that occurred four years ago.
USA Election 2024 Astrology: Kamala Harris
So where does that leave us with Kamala Harris’s solar return chart? I published my analysis recently as she turned 60 on October 20th. Her solar return chart suggests her chances in the USA Election 2024 are as follows:
- Sun (10th) conjunct Midheaven: this is the most positive career indication for the Sun with career advancement public recognition and personal achievement.
- Cardinal t-square with Sun (10th/MC), Pluto (1st) and Mars(7th): the Sun is also at the apex of her ‘achievement triangle’ and indicates success after an intense and bitter struggle (Mars opposite Pluto). Pluto rising indicates an intense, determined and empowering year, but Mars shows potentially angry and violent enemies.
- Sun – MC conjunction trine Jupiter (6th): this indicates career advancement and an increase in personal effectiveness and responsibility.
- Yod, ‘finger of fate’ comprising Sun-MC conjunction, Saturn (2nd) Uranus (5th): a Yod configuration points to a moment of destiny – and this one points to the Sun-MC conjunction, the positive career/life path outcome described above. It’s based on resourcefulness and discipline and a sense of spontaneity and fun. It’s also going to be a roller-coaster year.
- Solar Return Asc in Capricorn: This shows a professional and responsible approach and executive authority.
- Pluto (1st) in rare ‘mini triangle’ with Uranus (5th) and Neptune (3rd): The mini triangle marks a turning point in history – and Harris is personally connected with that process.
Kamala Harris’s solar return chart has far more pointers to success than Donald Trump’s solar return chart – and I would call the result of the USA Election 2024 for her on the basis of this solar return chart comparison alone. If she does win the election, I suspect the process of validation may be difficult or delayed, for the reasons we have seen above.
Who Will Win? The Stars Give Their Verdict
The verdict on the outcome of the USA Election 2024 appears clear, but the presence of planetary aspects suggesting a considerable struggle (including a violent one) in Harris’s chart and the existence of violent indicators in Trump’s chart (together with the populism, emotionalism and propensity to ‘muddy the waters’ also seen in Trump’s chart) suggest that – whatever the result – USA Election 2024 is going to mark a turning point in that nation’s history.
The process of change and transformation, so beautifully described by our former pastor, is going to be as painful as you would expect when set against a backdrop so heavily influenced by Pluto. The astrology of the next few months is not easy. Not only is there the Pluto ingress (Aquarius) to deal with, Mars is retrograde and making extended oppositions to Pluto – and the other outer planets also change signs in 2025. There is little doubt that the USA Election 2024 marks the moment when something is dying, and something is being born, and neither the death nor the birth are going to be without trauma.
